Wrightpayne
Well my cafe racer units are on! (And in). Few points / observations from the install..- I flattened out the W clips using two pairs of pliers.- There is no clear marking as to which way up they go. There is a printed label on the inside of the unit. When this is the correct way up, the unit is upside down. There is some tiny writing on the edge of the outer polycarbonate bowl - this should be at the top.- The sidelight bulb needs removing and the red wire attaching to the white wire on the CR unit. An insulated red female bullit connector is needed. Black wire (earth) needs snipping off at the terminal.- Headlamp ring was a little tight when reattaching. Had to hold it firmly in place to align the fixing hole to ensure the bolt didnt cross thread. All done in about 40mins. Just need a flat surface and wall to adjust them (our drive slopes so no good). Area Representative bluenose Posted May 21, 2022 Area Representative Share Posted May 21, 2022 Still not been out in the dark with my Original Cafe Racer units fitted so not able to offer a review of the performance. I know the Caterham units are not perfect with someone telling me that on full beam the area immediately in front of the car is unlit. I would think the Cafe Racer ones will be similar. Will report back once I have driven in the dark.Nick
Dan sigma 140
I've got wisamic LED lights on my car and they are fantastic in the dark. No night time picture, but this is the car just on sidelights.

mph
If you're interested in seeing what the JAL [Caterham] lights look like at night, at 2m17 I have them on, and put full beam on.

rayjackson1950
I got my Halo lights, the Halo being the side lights from Sevens & Classics in Feb 2020 for about £240.Driving in the dark is now a pleasure.
krisfl
I have some lights which are similar to CC lights & cafe racer bought via club member Andy Hobbs. I have to say they're excellent and just £150. Here are some pics: dipped high garage door vs Osram Night Breaker in the standard lensDRL (which also changes to an indicator) See indicator DRL Here
Dan sigma 140
#30 Hopefully this link will work. If not then I got them from Amazon, they are £55 each. PROBE2
My opinion only - The cafe racer look good and closest to Caterham design. I couldn't distinguish the difference with the majority of 5 3/4 units sold including those on eBay and Amazon.I opted for a cheapo set c£40 pair as per recommendation from another club member and was very pleased with both fitment and light quality. I ran the halo as indicator and existing indicator as side light. Main debate appeared to be on MOT UK compliance and the units I had passed an MOT and had a E marking so all good.Paul

Amos91
Do the Wisamics require any splicing or is it plug n play?
SM25T
Plug lead into H4 headlamp socket but wrap some insulation around it to cover all parts of contacts. Need to join sidelight wire to Halo ring wire .... easy enough

graearea
I have some of these and spent the night trying to find a sodding petrol station whilst getting flashed by every car going in the opposite direction.any ideas of how to get them so people don't go full beam in retaliation all the time?thanks! SM25T
Set the height properly. Look at the beam on a vertical wall or door with car on flat ground. With the headlight about 4m from the door, the top of the dip beam line should be below the height of the headlight centre. Loosen the 21mm nut on headlight stem and turn bowl downwards as required. Check again after tightening.
Dixa1225
24mm nut on later cars for adjustment.

graearea
Does this look right? to me it looks like they're upside down. The bottom pic has the full beam below the dipped beam also they're different colours. And the left is blurry whilst the right is defined. maybe I just need to move waaay back. Possibly the beam will swap quality.
SM25T
How close are you. You need to be about 3 or 4m away from the wall. The dip beam should have a flat top.
graearea
I'll go find a wall some evening. can't back the car up more than a metre without exiting the garage onto a non-flat road
SamC
Just a quick thread resurrection as I found this one really useful.I went for the Wisamac silver lights with halo after reading this thread. My old lights (despite having an LED bulb) were like two candles. I primarily wanted the halo as I've noticed how visible and noticeable the new minis are thanks to their halos, and I wanted to maximise my chances of being seen (dark coloured car has caused me to not be seen several times). The lights are absolutely fantastic. Easily as good as my daily's headlights. Thoroughly recommend. They cost me £88 for the pair, but notice that price has gone up a bit in the last week.Sidelight:Dipped beam:Full Beam (3mph max, but phone makes it look like warp speed!) TomB
They look amazing! Did you wire them in so they have permanent DRL, or switched with the sidelight switch as below?
