  1. You need a dry sump. Like mine. 😜
  2. That Nimbus product is really neat, I like that.
  3. Could be Throttle Position Sensor - TPS - and its not picking up those small light throttle inputs. It would be worth taking off and seeing if the spindle is clean and is free to turn. Also look at resetting the TPS using the 7 full pedal deflections with the ignition on.

    Calliper paint

Can caliper paint be applied in-situ with masking of the disc/pads? I'd be half tempted to this to the family barge, but not enough to want to remove the caliper, break the hydraulics and rebleed a modern tintop.

    Side impact bar

Would anyone be interested in buying my drivers side side impact bar that I didn’t refit after my rebuild? It’s got some gravel rash & I’ve touched up with POR15 a couple of areas of flaking powder coat. This is for an imperial, Arch built car - mine is a 96 chassis with a through chassis A frame mount as shown in the photos, not the later slightly under slung A frame mounting position. £75ono, located Greater Manchester/East Lancs. Pick up or meet up preferred. Thanks Tom
  6. He made it up on the spot just like 87% of statistics…Glad I’m considered rich owning a house with a drive. What about the 100% of people that don’t have a fuel station on their drive? Are they considered poor? In which case I’m rich and poor. I’m confused. 😕
  7. Don’t bin them, they’re not making original K series parts anymore. I’m not building an engine or likely to fit new pistons unless I have a failure so not for me, but someone would be. Can a single piston & rod be bought from anywhere to make a set?
  8. I have a little play in the gearstick on my 1996 type 9 box. I don't think I've ever given it a second thought or even noticed it - but now I know I want to change it!

    Rust!

That's the bottom line - its been used in a couple of winters, and now shows the after effects. Its hopefully a case of it looking worse than it is (wishbone aside). Rather than griping and talking about warranties, T&C etc, taking it off the road, buying a POR15 starter kit https://www.frost.co.uk/blk-por15-starter-kit/ and getting cracking on cleaning it up would be time & energy well spent.

    Rust!

That's been my philosophy for years, especially since I rebuilt the 7. They are just not designed with any sort of corrosion protection in mind.
  11. I think you'd have to do a full strip down of the fuel system to find each O ring. Anything in the in tank pump apart from the gasket?
  12. Are there O rings on the pump & fuel filter connections? If you do an order for the others let me know please 👍
  13. And as a pair https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305009825578?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=nbUfGDNkSn2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=M8Y4GNg3Tzy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  14. Are you thinking for injectors and fuel rail? I changed all my fuel rubber pipe to R12 (I think) when I rebuilt the car, but admit I didn’t think about the O rings.

    Rust!

Fair enough, disagreements are good 👍 I've not bought a new 7 so I don't know whats in the T&C - do they have any body work warranty like an OEM would? Could a claim be made against excessive corrosion? The problem might be the current expectation of what a 'new' car should have (body work warranty, be able to be used all year without dissolving!) versus what the Se7en is - a fundamentally a 1960s car with some modern components. How long would a 60s car last without any significant corrosion if used all year without any corrosion protection beyond paint?

    Rust!

T&C wouldn't cover neglect. I'd wager there's nothing wrong with the car, its just not been looked after.

    Rust!

Don't agree on your later point - I'm sure I've read that Caterham Cars wont be building Project V in a shed in Dartford - it will be subcontracted to a vehicle manufacturer, much like many other OEM.

    Rust!

When you bought the car, a special 'selected' used car, did you look underneath it to see if this level of rust was there already? Surely CC wouldn't sell a car with this level of rust, especially a 'selected' one? If not, how have you used the car to get it in this state in a such a short time? Have you run it all year road with no rust protection (Waxoil/ACF50 etc), put it away wet after salty runs? I guess you might have learnt the hard way that 7 are not at all like a modern car in this aspect, and need regular (annual?) check over and if necessary treatment to keep on top of rust on the space frame/ suspension. A good clean underneath on axle stands/ ramps will allow you to see where the rust is more easily allowing remedial treatment. A flapper wheel on a drill or dremel, clean & paint the problem areas then a top coat with Waxoil or similar would be too hard.
  19. They declined my offer of £35 for a pair earlier this week. They said £40 was the lowest they'd go. Assuming the same seller of course. Maybe too many Blatchatters have been asking 😉

    Rust!

My SVC units are in much better condition than those and they must be 15 years old!
  21. Great thanks, I'll get it on next years calendar 👍
  22. Have the Taffia settled on a date for the F&C run next year? I had to cancel my visit last year due to illness, so I’m hoping to come down next year.
  23. I've run wrap on my K series for at least a decade after loads of starter problems and crusty cables. No ill effects on the engine so far, but its 'only' a 1.8 Supersport, nothing too lary. Performance-wise, nothing discernible this far from fitting it, but I remember its did change the tendency for exhaust pops so it was doing something.
