  1. Did you buy this one? It’s hard to believe that it wouldn’t fit both S3 and SV variants? I have one fitted to my S3.
  2. In the past I've filed small flats on each track rod where there hasn't been any, it seems very hit and miss as to whether they come with flats or not. Also, whilst the track rod is disconnected from the track rod end, consider fitting electrical cable "gland covers" to protect the nuts from corrosion. Stu.
  3. And to answer the original question, yes you’re trunnionless.
  4. Colin that’s an impressive assembly of kit but I must be honest it’s waaaay too much stuff for me when touring. My mindset comes from touring on a motorbike and backpacking, if it isn’t needed it’s out, if it is needed it has to be made smaller! I have a Kriega tool roll and that carries everything … 1/4” sockets because the ratchet is smaller, I carry a 1/4 - 3/8 adapter for my spark plug socket. 4 spark plugs but I’ve disposed of the packaging to save space. Metric combination spanners but they’re all short length, again to save space, 2 of 17mm size to enable K-Series clutch cable replacement. Cable ties but no longer than the Kriega tool roll, if I need anything longer thay can be doubled up. A basic continuity tester rather than a full multimeter, it’ll check for live or continuity and on the road is all I’ve ever needed. Fuses. Piggyback wire tap in case an additional 12v feed is needed. Digital tyre pressure gauge, my expensive analogue one stays at home because it’s too big for touring. Short length cable snips and needle nose pliers. Long length ball end hex keys. Breathalysers for France (not sure they’re needed anymore though). The Kriega tool roll is mounted permanently in left side of the boot next to a Touratech 2L fuel can and mount used to carry 2L of oil, it’s more compact than their dedicated 2L oil bottle. I’ve experienced a standard oil bottle leaking its contents into the boot and it’s not pretty! The oil bottle and tool roll protrude into the boot space only slightly more than the aluminium shock turret. Under the bonnet I carry a puncture repair kit and Air-Man tyre inflator, spare clutch and throttle cables are cable tied to the chassis diagonal under the throttle bodies and spare alternator and dry sump belts are cable tied to the chassis front crucifix. I have a small scissor jack but I don’t always take it. Stu.
  5. Julian, this is how mine looked when I fitted it, before installing the primaries, viewed from above. I don’t recall there being any issue using the original 2 bolts and stud. Stu.
  6. If those are all black, which they look to be in the photographs, they’re both negative (earth) connections to the chassis.
  7. The best protection will be to leave them as bare carbon, the paint on the wings they’re attached to will be of much more concern.
  8. Mine (S3) is similar to your description. It does stay secure (well it’s not blown off yet) but at speed it doesn’t inspire confidence! The front tension is of course provided by the screen which makes me nervous about over tightening. Mine fits snuggly over the roll bar but even so there’s a limit to how tight I’ll draw the rear centre straps. The side straps are not an issue. Up to around 65mph mine has a gentle downward pressure on the hood, above that speed it inflates from below which tends to cause a clenching of the nether regions and breathing stops in anticipation of the inevitable. Certainly compared to the full hood it’s compromised, you’ll get soaked in a heavy downpour and it doesn’t feel as secure at speed. It’s massively more convenient though to fit and remove. Stu.
  9. I realise you are both medically trained (etc), but why would you resist the concept of a national screening program for prostate cancer? I believe you are applying old invasive testing technology as a reason not to support a screening program, but in time there will be new testing methods that carry less risk, but why would we wait for the appropriate test before applying pressure on Parliament? Agreement from government will not happen overnight but it would be a positive step forward in readiness for a suitable test being available. I simply cannot agree with your stance on this, unless you convince me otherwise? Stu.
  10. Make yourself a wooden wedge to put under the rollbar to raise it above the chassis tube, then use the wedge to gradually lower the bar as you insert the harness bolt.
  11. If you fitted the bolts from underneath, above the shocks, you won’t be able to insert the vinyl strip even with slots for the harness bolts. Unfortunately it’s as you’re expecting ….
  12. Latest News ... The 2024 C&L7C Officers Conference was held yesterday at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon - this is the one time in the year that provides an opportunity for all the officers of the club, Directors, Leadership Team, Area Representatives and support members to come together to discuss club matters. The event was extremely successful with some excellent presentations, including from Richard Nichol the Club Chair, Alan Tough as the Club Commercial Lead, and also Ted Marriott of Prostate Cancer Research. Additionally there was a session to learn more about the new Club Website led by Simon Houghton the Club General Secretary. The new website has been very well received and we intend to begin to make more use of some of the lesser obvious features of the site, a big one being news items like this which may ultimately replace the need for the majority of member directed emails. If you haven't already signed up to the MADS area news comms ..... To join the MADS area page - go to "Areas and Groups", then scroll down to "Merseyside & District Sevens (MADS)", and join the group; To follow news content you must then click "Follow"; You must then set your notifications in your account settings to receive notifications the way you want to, this is under "Followed Content". We can also run through this at the next MADS area meeting at The Partridge on 27/3/24 if anyone needs any help. Some dates for your diary: 20/4/24 - Caterham Cars Parts Sale at Caterham Cars factory, Kennet Road, Dartford 13/5/24 - Club track day at Castle Combe - novices only event; 18/5/24 - Fish & Chip Run - unfortunately if you're not already registered for this event it is now FULL; 21/5/24 - Club track day at Cadwell Park; 1/6/24 - The Big Picnic - a sociable Saturday to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research relaxing at the Ashton Hayes Estate courtesy of local member Barry Searle. This is our premium local event. 27/6/24 - Club track day at Brands Hatch; 9/7/24 - Club track day at Oulton Park.
  13. Isn't this the forward most popper for the full hood?
