  1. Have chat with Stu Forshaw of this parish - he assembled a loom for his SLR himself when the engine was out on a workstand. Made in thinwall cable, it was considerably less bulky that the original. I build a chassis loom for the rear of my car, was quite straightforward and rather thereputic actually with a small investment in tools.
  2. With that colour of oil, it looks more like a home brew tank than an oil tank!

    Upgrade

There's a few things that I'd term 'soft performance' upgrades that I wouldn't be without - LED rear lights to replace the awful standard lights, a high level brake light, good tyres, battery cut off key, a properly loud horn. Non of these will make the car faster, but well worth doing.

    Single seatbelt strap

I've had a closer look tonight and it is missing a spring/ clip that presses the knurled friction roller against the belt. Is this replaceable, and if not has anyone a spare Luke lap belt like this?

    Tyres

You can still buy ZZS, possibly until later in 2023, buy them while you still can would be my suggetion.

    Upgrade

Tyres are a quick & cost effective upgrade. No point having loads of power and big brakes if you can't use them due to rubbish tyres.

    Single seatbelt strap

    Thanks I'll take a look.
  8. Does anyone have a lap belt for the standard 4 (or 6) point Caterham harness? I need the non buckle strap as the one on my passenger side seat seems to slacken off in use and doesn't remain tight. thanks, Tom

    K-Series Radiator

The other thing to watch out for with Radtecs is to fit them square, without any twisting. They don’t like it and leak. Basically, when you mount it to the mounting brackets, use washers to shim the fit, as the brackets are unlikely to be perfectly square.
  10. While you’ve got the bushes out, it worth popping out the inner sleeve, then securing it with a blob of superglue/ epoxy in the Bush. They can slip out, leading to small amount of play in the column.
  11. I’ve been with MSM for 20 years! It not always the cheapest, but usually close enough to avoid the 1001 questions and hassle of moving. Plus being on first name terms with your insurer has to have some value!
  12. Thanks Paul, just ordered one - £6.29 from eBay
  13. The other element of the VPower type fuels is they have additional additives and are reputed to keep the valves and stems cleaner with reduced carbon build up, and they have less bioethanol in too if your worried about rubber components.
  14. Have you thought about getting your existing Billies rebuilt? Around £125 a damper as I remember reading on BC.
  15. Any more pictures apart from the chassis plate?
  16. Nitron Street series could be worth a shout, or NTR1 is your feeling a but flusher.
  17. It took me a while to find it, but my LH sidecrotch belt adjuster rattled on the floor. I put a thin piece of tool drawer foam under the tiller seat and it stopped the noise.
  18. Spend the money you save on fuel
  19. I've not managed to get round to fitting this to my 1996 dedion. What are the reasons for upgrading - is it simply the stronger axle? Are the they lighter than the older alloy hubs?

    K series bits

Do you have any unicorn excrement ?
  21. Maybe Im out of touch on prices, but it sounds strong money for a 17 year old modified Supersport. Its nudging genuine R400 price I think.
  22. I’d be very surprised if Arch bother with blasting etc - they will just recommend a new one. I took my original one for inspection when I rebuilt the car, and they took it away and came back saying it was slightly bent, and recommended a new one. I don’t believe it was due to having all the tracking and alignment sorted. I think they play safe, and regard them as a part with a fatigue life - certainly race cars / teams treat DD tubes in this way. Materials have changed over the years (thicker gauge steel) and design has submitted changed over the years. I’d get a new one and that sort of age.
  23. I’m looking through my service history, and see the rear flexible brake hoses were last replaced in April 2009,approx 21500 miles ago. The fronts were done when I swopped to widetrack in Winter 2014/15, only around 8000 miles ago. The metal sleeve is visibly OK from the outside. I’m sure tintop flexible pipes are not replaced at 24000 as my service schedule suggests. Whats the collective wisdom on replacement intervals on these?
  24. Thanks Phil. A £20 frame from Amazon and it’s ready to take pride of place in the garage.
