  1. I've had that a few times I've gone to the website. I suspect it detects cookies or IP address if your a new visitor/ different device.
  2. That's an interesting alternative I've not heard of before. I'd imagine a space frame kart has more in common with a 7 than a skateboard EV.
  3. How dare you throw reasoned argument around
  4. Glass half full, eh lads? Glad to see a spirit of optimism pervading the forums today.
  5. Could they be reducing / minimizing profit as they putting resources into R&D? So although a headline profit of £20k doesn't sound much, they could be spending multiples of that of on R&D other projects. I recall a similar line of conversation after last years seminar.
  6. I've been re-reading an article and the comments section of an article on Pistonheads from last year. Until the point when the comments go off track, its an interesting read again. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1932529&i=0 I think the weight could be red herring - engines, gearbox, diff and 30 litres of unleaded together must weigh ~150-200kg. An architecture along the lines of batteries in the engine bay and tunnel, central motor where the diff is located might not add much more than a passenger would to a current car. With the ability to move weight around more easily than with a liquid fuel, Id expect a weight distribution could be maintained. I don't think the issue is whether it could be done - its a problem with cost, investment, risk and acceptance. How does a company heavily invested in the past, pivot to a future facing EV world to attract customers in a decade without alienating their traditional customer who may be wedded to a tradition sports car? While its served them well thus far I fear it could prevent the change thats needed to survive.
  7. If Caterham don't make an EV or at the very least a hybrid they won't be manufacturing new cars post 2030. When older members / owners are hanging their steering wheels up in maybe 15-20 years, there will be a new generation of buyer who has more familiarity with EV and will expect that, not an oily inefficient banging thing that needs servicing at regular intervals. What was it the dinosaurs said - adapt or die? As much as I want CC to succeed, it seems a very steep hill to climb with a tiny engineering team. The investment needed must be huge. I couldn't attend the webinar last week - have they bolstered their engineering team or are they partnering to produce something electrical / hybrid?
  8. But in the world of EV, 1000-1200 is lightweight, coupled with EV instant torque and no gear changes, engineered for the weight would be interesting. The world is changing - all cars are now lardy compared to previous generations. My Golf class EV (VW ID3) is ~1900kg compared to ~1400kg for the comparable Golf - so the EV element is adding ~500kg. Adding 3-400kg to a 7, assuming smaller batteries etc sounds about right. A 1000kg with a 200PS motor from my EV would be rapid and fun!
  9. I cant help with your query, but I didn't know the later tanks had this large casting and the oil pick up exposed like that. Whats that all about?
  10. Taken from POR website, POR15 would be good for 230oC for 10hours. Whilst regular track use could cause a sticky mess, it’s ok for my use.
  11. I used POR15 and top coat on my rear Sierra callipers that were starting to look scruffy. They now look like they’ve been enamelled! A deep glossy black, so far not had any problems with heat.
  12. Almost certainly the powder coat. Poke it with a small screwdriver and see if it lifts off.
  13. I've glued mine on with a bead or two of sikaflex.
  14. iPhone Se 2016 model, 32BG in rose gold colour. For sale due to upgrade. Its on the EE network, but I expect could be unlocked easily enough, and has been kept in dark blue nubuck leather Snakehive wallet type cover all its life. As such, there are no visible scratches on the front and only a couple of minor marks on the rear. £35 inc the cover. Cheers Tom
  15. I’m looking to move on a set of 4x16inch steel wheels and winter tyres (205 55 16). I bought them for a Golf mk6, but have also fitted them to my mk7. I expect they will fit across the VAG group for similar class cars - Golf, A3, Octavia, maybe others but would need checking out. Two of the tyres would need repacking for proper winter use - still legal but worn below what is advised for use in winter conditions. £150. Located north manchester / east Lancashire, happy to meet within reasonable distance or Paisley Freight can courier for £40.
  16. I wouldn't get too hung up on the originality thing either - fundamentally its a kit car - not a 1920s Bugatti worth millions. It could be an issue on an original Lotus or genuinely special one, but the nature of the cars means bits change or are non standard all the time.

    Brake upgrade

By reputation they have shocking customer service at the best of time, they must be really bad now!

    2001 MINI Cooper

It can't - as its a canceled order it doesn't have the bike mounting kit we would need. I don't want to retrofit it as its double the price and the car will go back at the end of the PCP. We can transport 3 bikes on the roof of the Golf (restricted high entrances notwithstanding ). So bike/ mess/ holiday hauls can be with the Golf and ID3 for everything else. We could have kept the MINI, but the chance to beat an 6-8 month waiting list was too good to miss!

    2001 MINI Cooper

Due to an unexpected cancelled order, our plans to update our tintop fleet has come rather sooner than we expected. As such, I need to responsibly rehome our 2001 MINI Cooper. Some say it’s a future classic. A microcosm of the early 2000s. To us however, it’s been a fun stop gap car while I was working a reduced week for Daddy Day Care over the last few years, and a station run car. However, with a new ID3 coming and the Golf being kept for bikes and mess, I don’t think we can keep it. So the car - it’s December 2001, so within the first 6 months of production. It’s on 142000 miles, and has been well looked after in my and previous ownership. It rattles a bit, but it’s had a new exhaust pipe (yesterday!), recent tyres, brake disc and pads have all been replaced. It’s is running a reconditioned original spec gearbox, and had the clutch done at the same time. No body work corrosion, but as to be expected the suspension and subframes are as you would expect an older car to be. I’m hoping for around £1000, but happy to negotiate. Car has MOT until the spring, is located in north Manchester /East Lancashire. If interested, let’s have a chat.
