  1. ps +ive is normally the centre pin. S7MAD
  2. Yes you would. Some plugs do not fit some sockets very well. Give it a wiggle. You can put your multimeter probes directly into the socket, but take care as ashort will blow the fuse. Worth checking to make sure there is a fuse in the line, just follow the wires back. More than happy to have a look when we get home. S7MAD
  3. I wash mine very carefully in the sink with washing up liquid and let it dry out for a few days. I do it every 3 to 4 years and never notice any performance difference. S7MAD
  4. It might be worth checking your torque wrench against another in case it is under reading. Check that the nuts, threads and seatings on the wheel are clean and free of grease/copperslip etc. They should be dry and clean. Try some other wheel nuts or swap with those that do not go lose to see if it is the nuts. The seating for front wheel drive and rear wheel drive can be different. Compare wheel nuts to see that the shamfer is the same and matches the wheels. Try 65 ft/lb and see if it helps. The extra 10 should not damage anything. Good luck hope the above helps. S7MAD
  5. My 'spider' did not have a circlip, it was a push fit. It took a lot of heat and energy to drift it off. It is a very messy job but if you have the time and patience there is some satisfaction available by doing the job yourself. S7MAD
  6. Cheers John but mine is like Tim's. S7MAD
  7. Did you take it apart? If so how? I could not get mine apart, there seemed to be something holding it even after I took the two screws out. 🤔 S7MAD

Agree, use it dry, then a few leaks here and there are just an irritation rather than a disaster. S7MAD
  9. There should be zero movement. If you get an assistant to pull and push you should easily find the point of movement. There are only four joints: 1/ The rack mountings to the chassis 2/ The universal joint just as the column enters the rack. 2 splined bits to look at 3/ The clamp half way down 4/ The steering wheel Put thumb and finger over each area and have a feel. If this reveals nothing then check that the output from the rack is not moving in the housing, very rare but if the joints are ok then it is the only option left as far as I can see. Hope this helps, info for a 7. S7MAD Edited by - MADMALC on 15 Aug 2010 21:26:30
  10. Can I take it apart? If so how? I have taken the two screws out and this losens the plastic end but it appears to be still held by something. Not wishing to ruin it I put it all back. The reason I want it in bits is to a) see how it works and b) clean the contacts for more reliable performance S7MAD

Can you get them in white? S7MAD
  12. All my ACB10s are directional and are marked. The advice was to run the fronts in the opposite direction to the marks to improve the stability of the tyre under very heavy braking. I would not worry about set up if your driving ability is in the normal range. S7MAD
  13. It appears that the 125 and 150 have the same max torque and there is only 250rpm difference in revs between them. The 175 maxes out at 7000rpm, and 6900rpm for the 150 is in the same area. So if you have the money go 175, if you need to save a little go 150. You may well be dissapointed in the long run with 125. You need as many horses as you can afford, you do not have to use them all the time but they are there when you need them. S7MAD
  14. My gold pump to column clearance is tight. Did you know that you can slacken off the rack and rotate it to change the clearance. The universal joint allows quite a lot of adjustment to take place. S7MAD
  15. This sounds like my dream pedal. Try the 1144's, your system sounds perfect as long as you can lock the wheels if you push hard enough. S7MAD

    Oil Drip - 1.4K

Have a look where the speedo cable goes into the gearbox. You realy need to go underneath with a dry finger and poke around. Hope the back improves soon, you have my sympathy. If it is under warranty I would go back sooner rather than later. Hope this helps. S7MAD
  17. I use a small funnel with a tube pushed onto the outlet. I go underneath and stick the end in the filler/level hole and my able assistant holds the funnel and pours oil in the top. A bit slow but it works. When I have done I drain off the 'contraption' and then stick the free end back in the top of the funnel. This stops dirt getting into the line. You can take the floor out of the boot to make access easier if you wish. I use this to do the gearbox as well. S7MAD Edited by - MADMALC on 30 Jul 2010 19:00:01
  18. It appears that 1985 was the year that the de-deon was introduced. I have a price list dated 1st April 1987 and it shows the LSD as an option for an extra £333.50 incl. VAT. Hope this helps. S7MAD
  19. As jeffi above. I have had no issues with the 'solid' mounting and the car is now 12 years old. S7MAD
  20. As said above it comes only from Caterham and is the complete screen with glass, surround and seal fitted. You will find it may take a few days as they have to order it centrally from CC. Plus CC may be out of stock. (again) See you Wednesday. 🥰 S7MAD
  21. Hi Andy They should be OK. They asked me all the right questions, I was staggered but pleased. When I had mine done I asked them if I could fit it when they had had it delivered from Caterham. They said yes but not to come back if I broke it doing it. They asked how long they should book for the fitting for their paperwork. If they had not let me do it I was going to watch them so I could guide them if needed. I was happy and they were too. S7MAD
  22. Good picture, ideal for the garage, has remote and one scart socket. I am in the LEEDS area. It will have to go to the tip if I cannot find a good home for it. And remember it's FREE. S7MAD
  23. Mine does this as well. There is a picture of the inside of a suretrack diff some where that reveals all. There are some parts in there that 'float' about. So as the diff turns they fall into a different position. I am sure some body will be along soon with the link. S7MAD
  24. Hi Mike Sorry, I do not have the facility to copy it. Try Avonride or Brian James for a copy. The auto reverse looks as if it is inside the drum. May be worth taking the drums off and cleaning out etc. If you do not get sorted by next week let me know and I will then be able to take photos of the little book and email them to you. S7MAD
