  1. Hi James, A great looking program; well done to you and Dave. Just need to get myself a new car and I'll be joining you "On Track". Can't wait. Mike
  2. Hi Ian, Well I've done approx 60 track days and approx 25k road miles. It's the track days where the most engine wear / stress will have occurred. Cheers Mike
  3. After 8 years of trackdays and quite a few road miles I think my R500D is due a bit of preventative maintenance TLC. The engine still has good oil pressure and no rattles or knocks but I’m stripping it down to have a good check over. There doesn’t appear to be any wear on the cylinder bores but what’s the view of replacing the piston rings? The engine is fitted with Omega slipper pistons so if I use a piston ring to check for cylinder bore wear what ring gap should I expect? In a similar vein is it worth fitting new big end bearing shells, as I said the oil pressure is fine but I guess there must be some wear? Cheers Mike
  4. Hi Hampster, You need to make the hotel bookings by phone (the numbers are on the Chitchat post) and quote the booking reference. I have just checked with Radison Blu and they have approx 80 rooms left. Unfortunately my contact at Jury's Inn is on ,hols but I can see you can still book rooms outside of the clubs allocation via their website. If you still have problems please let me know. Mike
  5. Hi Second dibs on the 6" & 8" wheels if AndyD doesn't want them. YHM Cheers Mike
  6. Hi Jonathan, I know the Ford part number is 988F989BB as this is marked on the TPS I have fitted by CC. I found the alternative part numbers from this //www.smpe.co.uk/ and other online catalogues. Cheers Mike
  7. Hi Malcolm, Just been looking at this myself, third party versions are available on Ebay etc. Here are the part numbers to look for. Ford part No. 988F989BB or 1071403 Fuel Parts part No. TP073 Intermotor part No. 19976 Motaquip part No. VTP101 Be careful of the very cheap one on Ebay they look like they are using old Ford tooling and are very poor quality (I know I bought one!) Cheers Mike
  8. Hi Saundersian, As ws21sby asks are theses still available? I'm only looking for one seat so if it works with ws21sby we could split them and take one each. Cheers Mike
  9. Hi F355GTS Look like John is going to take them, you have 2nd dibs if he doesn't. Cheers Mike
  10. Don’t struggle with those heavy steel ramps on your trailer, I have the solution, a pair of light weight Aluminium Ramps to fit Minno, Clubman or TT Series trailers. The ramps are 1.85m long and in very good condition, I bought them new from Brian James 4 years ago for use on my Minno; they are so much easier to handle than the standard steel ramps. Yours for £150, buyer to collect from Moreton in Marsh. Cheers Mike
  11. Hi Elwood I have a BJ Minno for sale, based in Moreton in Marsh ( 3/4 hour North of Oxford ) If you're intrested Blat Mail your email address and I can send you some pics and more info. Cheers Mike
  12. Totally agree, what a fantastic day, well organized with great camaraderie amongst all the Club drivers. I've done lots of track days with various organizers and the Club events are always the best. So come on guys, those who haven't done a Club track day you don't know what your missing. If three guys from the Isle of Man can make the journey to you can too. A Club day is the best way to get started, remember that's what your car was designed for. Thanks again Merrick. Cheers Mike

    Slicks

Hi Paul I get my used slicks from Colin at Sticky Slicks, but as far as I know he only has Michelin radial tyres. If you’re looking for used crossply you’re probably best getting in touch with one of the 7 race teams who I believe run on Avon crossply slicks. Cheers Mike
  14. Hi Ammo As others have said, the “quiet “ R500 airbox does take a perceptible edge off the performance; can’t put numbers on it but you can certainly feel it from the driver’s seat. You re-built my engine last Aug as a Raceco 250 after it had ingested a bit of fractured air trumpet. Since getting it back I’ve run it with the “quiet” airbox, without an airbox just the pipercross filter, and with the C400 airbox. From comparative noise tests the “quiet” airbox is no quieter than the C400 airbox, and I’ve had the Raceco 250 engine with Caterham roller barrels, std de-catted Caterham primarys and Raceco exhaust mapped by Steve Greenald at 269 bhp, well pleased I’ll send you the dyno plot. Cheers Mike
