  1. Does the water flow in the top hose and out of the bottom or the other way round on a Rover K VHPD ? S7MAD
  2. Caterham supply a wheel carrier that has captive nuts welded in the ends so you just bolt it on. You have to losen the tank so you create clearance to get the bolts in from behind. Caterham will obviously supply the correct bolts as well. S7MAD
  3. K T Green, White Garage Subaru Dealers at Pool in Wharfedale, just near the Dinley Arms crossroad at the top of Pool Bank. First class and sensible, they understand specialist cars. You can watch and talk to the man as he does it as well. Highly recommended Malcolm McGovern S7MAD
  4. 152 MPH @ 4.000 RPM Seat Ibeza Sport (130 Tdi 6 Speed) Will not pull it though. S7MAD S7MAD
  5. I have done this twice and the only safe way is to de mount and re mount for each popper. Have had little problems with the tool, practice makes perfect. S7MAD
  6. Hi Barbara If you get stuck I am happy to help out in-between runs, no experience, but what the heck. If you need me you have my contact details on my entry form and on the web form. Lots of love M S7MAD
  7. Once the adjustment has been used up you can tie a knot in the cable at the accelerator end and then back off the adjuster thus extend the life of the cable, worked for me. S7MAD S7MAD
  8. Dave you say the spherical joint is easy to replace but mine has a blind circlip. ie no holes for the pliers. I have tried everything to get it out but no joy. Any ideas? I have tried drilling. I have welded the bearing to stop the circlip rotating and filed down an 'o' ring remover to hook under it. Still not managet to get it out. S7MAD
  9. Try cleaning the connections as they get corroded being so near the ground. It worked for me following advice on here. Cheaper than a new sender. S7MAD

    polishing ali

I always put flour on my polishing cloth as it soaks up the black slime so you don’t end up spreading it back on a clean bit. The cloth lasts much longer as well. Just keep dabbing it in a dish of the stuff and keep shaking the cloth after it gets slightly grey. You may wish to blank off any orifices that you do not want to get flour down as well. I always finish of with a good blow down with air. Works for me. S7MAD
  11. Oil now goes in via the 'normal' filler on the cam covers. The metal you mention is a key to tighten the top when you first fit it. Caterham have a fitting diagram if you ask the right questions. S7MAD
  12. Will try and do as many as I can get an entry for. Did all this years and enjoyed them all. Lots of love S7MAD
  13. Can anyone recommend a supplier of adjustable top links so I can adjust the camber easily and quickly without having to dismantle half the car everytime I make an adjustment. As always your expertise is appreciated. MAD MALC S7MAD
  14. Check the UJ's as well, they start with little noises and build up to big ones. Just an idea. MAD MALC S7MAD
  15. Thanks for the advice, I have 'Staniforth' and 'Carroll Smith's handling clinic' but what I am looking for is not 'what set up' but WHAT EFFEC will any change to castor camber bar pressure etc be on a seven. Any one who knows willing to give the info for now't ????? MAD MALC S7MAD

  17. Doe's any one have knowledge of a book or 'Paper' written specifically for the Caterham that shows the result that any changes to steering and suspension settings might have on the car. I am particularly interested in getting more from my ACB10 tyres, but would like info for radial type tyres as well. So many adjustments available so would appreciate some guidance. MAD MALC S7MAD
  18. I can confirm that after v careful running in S7 MAD uses zero oil in road use and a little on sprints. Over filling is the only sure way of getting level right, if it don't need it, it blows it out. I have always used Halfords full synthetic and change it every 2500 miles. I think the running in is very important as is mechanical sympathy when giving her a good thrashing. As we all know a little pain is quite nice but drawing blood is a no no. MAD MALC S7MAD
  19. Top people, just the info I need, I knew someone would know. All I have to do now is learn to spell and hope the ball joints do not fall out of their mounting. MAD MALC S7MAD
  20. Can anyone advise the number of degrees change in camber per rotation of the standard ball joint. 13 ins wheels on wide track suspension. Ta MAD MALC S7MAD
  21. It,s easy to decide, if you do DIY and do your own servicing on your car and enjoy doing a good job, then build it yourself, if you don't leave it to the trade. The value to me of building my car was far in excess of the price Caterham charge. If you do go ahead, there is no shortage of help either from Caterham on the telephone or any local area club member in person. Go to your nearest local meeting and take advantage of PERSONAL help equal to that available here in these Forums. If you live in the Yorkshire area I would be only too pleased to pass on any small bits of knowledge I have gained from two builds. The Pennine Area Organiser will pass on my details to you. If you think you might be able to do it you probanly can, so do it. And obviously the opposite is also valid. MAD MALC S7MAD
  22. Title says it all, I have the tow ball and the money. Must be in good condition and priced to be good value. Thanks. MAD MALC S7MAD
  23. Thanks for all the help, will try cleaning connection to sender first then new sender if it does not fix it. Curborough?, well fourth in class I think but not enough bottle for the first left hander to be able to do any better I'm afraid. Literally!! As for telling Shirl the Girl, better own up now. As for knowing what I get up to in the garage, video surveillance sees to that, no joke, it's true. Call and see if you don't believe me!! MAD MALC S7MAD
  24. Started to get erratic readings, not going to zero but flickering at a lower than normal reading. Stops doing it if you swithch off and re start. Started after running at constant 4000rpm on motorway for 45 mins. VHPD Rover with dry sump and gold pump. Any ideas, should i tell my wife??? MAD MALC S7MAD
  25. Best tip I ever received was to dip the polishing off cloth in flour. As soon as the flour discolours shake it out and dip in the flour again. It appears that the flour soaks up the black so you don't spread it about or get as much on your hands. Plus the cloth remains useable much longer. An airline is handy to blow off the flour as it gets everywhere, and remember to cover the inlet to the carbs and the louvres when doing the bonnet. My second seven is painted and it is a pure joy to clean. S7MAD
