    Towbar Electrics?

Thanks for the comments. You confirmed my view that Scotchlocks are not the way to go.
  2. I have conflicting advice from towbar fitters. I thought I would ask the collective power of BC. Scotchlock or Plugin? Various towbar fitters are giving different opinions about fitting of the single electrics to a 430d. Most are pushing the use of a plug in electric connector that connect directly into the existing BMW electrics. However I have one supplier saying that he has stopped using the connectors as a fault in the electrics of the trailer can cause the car electrics to fault, with subsequent main dealer fault fixing at main dealer charge rates! As a result they use scotchlocks and various fuses on the towbar electrics to protect the car electrics. What is the collective thoughts on this topic?
  3. Thanks everyone. Simon - I think I will have to risk it. I need tyres for the next event, My race tyres got damaged and I don't fancy using my Road tyres on a hillclimb Chris - Good point about the asterisk, I hadn't spotted that for this years list.
  4. I'll try Shaun suggestion first. Thanks.
  5. I am just about to invest in a new set of tyres for hillclimbing and wondered if anyone knew if the MSA had any plans to change the List 1B tyres for next year? I don't want to buy a set of tyre for them to be useless for next season..
  6. Just noticed that the Rear ARB Drop Link is "rubbing" a grove in the inside tyre wall. It is more pronounced on the passenger side. The car is a VX HPC with 8.5 inch SLR wheels on the rear. Appears to be happening on both ZZR and ZZS tyres. I have checked the recommendation from this link. My drop links are already on the inside of the ARB, so that the nut is on the outside of the ARB (closest to the tyre). The ARB is on the softest setting. Interestingly the inside of the droplink is also rubbing on the body work of the inside of the rear wing. This is just cosmetic. The rubbing on the tyre is very worrying. What can I do? Other than remove the ARB completely?

    Sadev Downshift

Sorry guys I should have been more specific. I am not interested in the paddle shift system, clearly they normally have a throttle blip. In the video the car is using a manual shifter, which I guess is using a flat shifter, possibly the Geartronic Easyshift. So I am curious as to the statement that clutchless downshifts are an option with a manual shifter with a Sadev box?

    Sadev Downshift

I have been watching this of the 620R. In the video they state that you don't need to use the clutch for downshifts. Does the 620R have a throttle-blip fitted as standard? If so, who is the supplier of the GCU and throttle-blip. (FYI - the Geartronic easyshift doesn't have a throttle blip capability for a Sadev box) Or is it a standard feature of the Sadev box that allows clutchless down shifts?

    Agreed Value?

I am taking out an agreed value on my 7 insurance. But who would be able to value the car? Ideally in the Southampton/Bournemouth area.
  10. I do have a battery cut off, which I use to isolate the battery. However my ECU is wired directly to the battery and the draw from the ECU appears to be enough to drain that battery over the winter months.
  11. I have been running this MM battery for about a year so far on my Vauxhall powered 7. I also have the CTEK charger. The battery has been great, it cranks really well. I have had to use the charger a few times (alternator stopped charging and once over the winter) and it is a pleasure to use. So much better that the cheaper chargers I have used in the past.

    Rollcage Bolts?

Update: Redline haven't got the required bolts. So looks like fun time with an angle grinder!

    Rollcage Bolts?

Thanks for the link Chris, that certainly would do the trick. I might try giving Redline a call the morning.

    Rollcage Bolts?

It is an Imperial cage. Made by Safety Devices. I am not sure of the age. I doubt it matters, but it is a tall cage.
