  1. Ive got a woodford Trailer (16'1 x 6'1) twin axle which i tow behind a 1.9TDI seat alhambra. car weighs 700 KG and i carry 8 spare wheels and tools in a front box. the trailer is about 4' too long for what i need and the space i have and am now changing it for a shorter one. at autosport show i looked at the other trailers on display and came to the conclusion that the finish and materials on the wioodford product was superior to the others. I have just ordered a new woodford trailer therefore, and they gave me a reasonable p/ex for my old one
  2. Does anybody know where i can get hold of some of these mail order to match my shiny aeroscreen. Tried the Caterham manufacturer who advertises in low flying without much joy (they wanted me to leave the car on 3rd attempt( previous 2 calls being unanswered) and i live some way away) how much should i expect to pay
  3. I Have an SV and race F2 Stockcars. My caterham has about the same clearance as my stockcar into our garage. Quite a few stockcars are carried within Panel vans. Mercedes 814 seems the best from memory. also there is a transit wide bodied mini coach which is used. Try going to a stockcar meeting and seeing what is used.
  4. solution then : Buy an sv and route the exhaust around the front and down the right hand side - extra long primaries too ! 😬
  5. ☹️ If there is no resistance in the clutch pedal, then it sounds like there is a release bearing related problem (which i think is not unheard of in K's). indeed my VVC release bearing makes some very odd noises and vibrations through the pedal after being ranted. If its not the cable guess its inside. From memory of watching Millwoods mechanic, on mine (an SV) you can pull back a grommet on the top of the bell housing and look down to see whats happening inside. Best of luck
  6. Richard, Sent you an e.mail very interested in one. Does anybody know about the half height sidescreens. Will the standard 7 ones fit an SV or, does anybody know where to get the screens in anticipation of a deflector.
  7. On a recent track day i had water appearing in the centre of my screen (it rained lightly at different times during the day but i noticed this when it was dry). I opened the bonnet and could see no leaks. The top hose was not as tight as it could be on the rad but, did not appear to be leaking. Throughout day, temperature remained constant. I wondered if it was coming from the windscreen washer jet? Has anybody suffered from water being forced through the jet when at speed, G Force situations? If not, i guess it may mean examining the heater matrix area. although at idle i noticed no leaks.
  8. adrain, I would be interested in one if anybody knows where i can get a full width deflector.
  9. The person who advised me to to dump the rear springs was the mechanic from a caterham race team. I thought this year i would do a few sprints and trackdays, and so bought some protech front shocks for the front (very similar to aluminium AVO's) that would allow me to adjust the damping up afew clicks whilst on the track and then back it off a few clicks for on the road. 250lb springs seemed the way to go with the new shocks from what i'd read on BC. I may well do the same with the rear so that i could make it a bit firmer on compression daming. Saying that, i was quite pleased with how the car went at castle combe. I had no brown trouser moments from a slide point of view and clocked 120 going into the avon rise, so i was generally happy. I think the front ride height may have been dropped a bit by the changes at the front, and so a flat floor exercise is probably the way to go. I just wondered if the rear progressive springs needed to be junked and i would notice a difference
  10. Sorry I am a novice to this caterham lark Any other patronising copmments greatly received
  11. Can anybody help? I've got a SV160VVC. On the front i have fitted 250lb front springs. the front of the car seems much flatter in bends but, seems to dip more on the rear outside corner. Somebody told me that the problem is that i have the standard caterham rear progressive springs fitted. Questions 1)What is the length of a standard SV rear shock 2) What is the poundage of the standard rear spring 3) what poundage should i fit for track use. 4) has anybody any experiance of fitting rear shox with spherical bearings anyother issues re rear shox / springs greatly appreciated.
  12. I Know a chap who builds shocks, If you e.mail me, i will let you have hos phone number; i am sure he could help
  13. to overheat constantly as yours seems to do, has the various parts of the cooling system been pressure tested. On my non caterham race car, i was adding water wetter and considering fitting a radiator which would have cooled a chieftan tank (according to my local cooling diadnostic specialist). my head gasket then went and i thought it must have been the gasket. No head was cracked and i think that combustion gasses must have been getting into the cooling system for quite a while. Is this your problkem ?
  14. If i put on the handbrake and push the brake pedal, i get very little brake pedal movement. if i let off the handbrake, i get about 2 inches of movement which is more than i like. when on the track it goes down a little more after about 20 miles but, is then consistently at that much travel. any ideas. is this normal. could it be the rear pads are worn(alyhough thy look to have load of meat left.
  15. A lighter flywheel has less weight and so accelerates faster meaning that the car will reach max RPM faster. The down side is that the flywheel gives the cranshaft momontum and smoothes out the firing of the pistons. thus at the same tickover a car with a lighter flywheel will be "lumpier" on tickover and if its really light the tickover may need to be raised or else the car may frequently stall I think !
