    BMW diff?

Spooky, whilst reading this thread an email from Caterham has arrived informing me that parts are now available, am I fitting myself or opting for factory fit? Decisions decisions
  2. I had to put 15 litres in mine.
  3. Hi Huw, very interesed to find out how it was done.
  4. Snap, 150 Roadsport with a leaking tailpipe seal. When I built it I polished the propshaft seal path as, even though it was protected by a plastic sleeve, there were a few nicks on the surface. It would seem I didn't polish it well enough. I am hoping the seal is bedding in as the drips on the garage floor look a little smaller each time. To fix it properly it is either engine out or diff out. You choose
  5. I know you were looking for a heater but...................... I hope all is well
  6. On mine, 150 Sigma, speed is quite accurate however the odometer only registers 7 miles for every 10 the sat nav covers. Nick at Caterham Midlands suggests I get the sensor closer. I am not convinced.

    Running in

I ran mine up to temp to make sure the fan cut in. New Sigma 150. Ran like a bag of spanners 'till it went off for PBC and IVA.
  8. Well done Mark. See you at the next LADS meeting Barrow to Horwich and back will almost run it in 😬

    Rear wing damage

Cheers Jason, trip to Halfords then.
  10. Managed two bits of damage to the same rear wing today, tried to miss a rabbit/hare thrown up by the 7 in front and failed. Thank heavens for plastic screws, all the lower ones sheared. Then several hours later whilst squeezing past a truck and caravan managed to damage the bottom edge under the S/S guard. I am hoping to fill, sand and paint the bottom edge. What is the best stuff to use?

    Sigma oil

Just done mine, used Titan Super Syn F 5W/30 from Opie Oils
  12. Early this morning, I was staying in the Malvern Hills Hotel for a few days this week, out early walking/jogging up to the top of the hill fort at about 07.15 heard, a nice noise coming up from the Ledbury to Malvern road. A Seven came into view through the trees and then went out of sight very quickly. Too high up and sweat in my eyes to determine colour. Sounded VERY nice
  13. That will be interesting Mike, please let me know your thoughts after
  14. Speedo now works well at showing speed, Somerset and back over the weekend, very consistant with Sat Nav, however for every 10 miles covered by the Sat Nav the odometer recorded only 7. Can't multi task, drive, listen to "Senior Management" complain about the cold draughts AND do mental arithmatic all at the same time. Is there a solution? Edited by - Domus on 8 Mar 2011 23:37:24
  15. It's just fallen off officer.................honest 😬
  16. Built mine on trestles. See Pre Build Edited by - Domus on 10 Feb 2011 12:02:56
  17. After washing a car I always drive around the block to dry the brakes off and never use the handbrake in the garage www.peters7.co.uk

    New diff

The letter quotes "both reliable and quiet". It also asks interested owners to contact the factory. www.peters7.co.uk

    New diff

Anyone else got the letter from CC? New diff (open or LSD), carrier, drive shafts and prop shaft for ALL de Dion cars. Reliable and quiet. Exchange deal, who's first? Chance to change the weeping oil seal in the gearbox tail, tempted. www.peters7.co.uk
  20. I rang Sean at CC. He sent me the correct pods with cut outs in them. Looks like they employed giant Rats to nibble them. I have the originals, if I need to replace them a Dremel should do the job. www.peters7.co.uk

    Engine out

Tray under the gearbox tail, or lots of rags to clean up the mess when you split the gearbox from the prop shaft. www.peters7.co.uk
  22. My Banner has a hole in each end, one is open the other has a small plug. CC told me to push in a length of washer tube, this is routed past the washer bottle to below the chassis. www.peters7.co.uk
  23. Fitted the new probe, set it at .4mm, LED flashes and speedo needle moves when hub is turned by hand. Also changed all the rear wing set screws for plastic ones. Araldited washers to the two lower Dzus fasteners, to make them into home made wing nuts (thanks for the tip Paul) While up on stands had a quick look underneath. Small oil leak from gearbox/propshaht seal ☹️ Bugger www.peters7.co.uk
  24. I have had a similar problem, I suspect the sensor. Sean has sent me a new one. Fitting this weekend. Went out on Wednesday for a blat, speedo working, then not, working then not. Must have done 70 miles, odometer moved on about 20. www.peters7.co.uk
