  1. Top tip for new builders.............DO NOT fanny about with the bottom steering bush A couple of 5 thou knocks and a 10 thou knock had it all lined up again. www.peters7.co.uk
  2. Couldn't fit the exhaust primaries with the steering column in the way, so I removed it, I think I have disturbed the botton bush as the column will not fit inside the hollow sleeve. Taken them both out and they slide easily, taken out the top plastic bearing and the they will not slide. Top bush is easily pulled out, but how do I check the bottom one. 🤔 www.peters7.co.uk
  3. Not sure of Discos but lots of cars have difficult to fit pollen filter covers, after service many of these allow water ingress. www.peters7.co.uk
  4. Outside calipers and a steel rule, I make it 64mm on a new build. www.peters7.co.uk

  6. Yes thanks, That East Coast place also sell Sikaflex, I assume the black 291 is the one to get. Am I right? www.peters7.co.uk
  7. Fitted mine, with help and advice from Paul Richards (AR LADS), and bolted up the propshaft, just about an hour and a quarter. A good 45 degree chamfer on the long bolt helped along the way. A good Monday evening 😬 www.peters7.co.uk
  8. I want some as well for my new build www.peters7.co.uk
  9. The manual states that the handbrake switch is not used, so what is the wire dangling in the exact spot where the handbrake will sit? Can I remove the switch to "add lightness"? 😬 www.peters7.co.uk
  10. Fitted mine yesterday. I fitted the cap heads into the bottom of the main tube just by a couple of threads, like wise the two M8 hex set screws, the RH rear stay was half a hole out, and the LH one almost a full hole out. The RH one was pulled on by me while Mrs Domus pushed home the bolt. The LH one followed the same pattern but this time a little more grunt was needed, by me not "Senior Management" 😬 www.peters7.co.uk
  11. Just completed the dry fit of of the de-dion tube assembly on the bench. Why are the rear calipers piped in solid? Does the pipe not flex and stretch with each application of the handbrake? When I come to strip and change the rear pads will I need to undo the tube nut and therefore introduce air into the system? Why not just use two hoses? There must be a reason www.peters7.co.uk
  12. Panic over, with everything tightened up the gap is close.....but they are equal, not got the feelers out but it looks about 3mm. Next question, how free is the steering supposed to be? one side is stiffer. Not by much, but different. Bottom bearings are super smooth running so I suspect the upper ball joint. Not much choice but to carry on and see how it feels with the tiny steering wheel. Thanks for all the input. Job stopped now as the front ARB is the wrong one Still, enjoying the whole process 😬 www.peters7.co.uk
  13. Upright supplied as an assembly, even has calliper fitted and yes there is a washer. Looking at pics of recent builds mine looks the same but it is very close. www.peters7.co.uk
  14. Wide track and big brakes, dry fit of upright, the build manual says fit spacer first then drop onto lower wishbone bearing and fit turned down nyloc nut. Fit upper wishbone ball joint. OK so far, however when I fit the track rod end from steering rack, the TR end rubs on the disc Tried the other side with the spacer underneath the lower wishbone bearing with the same result. Should I adjust the pre set ball joint on the upper wishbone to throw the disc? Will it all come right when the car is on it's wheels? Been looking at it for an hour, but it doesn't help *confused* www.peters7.co.uk
