  1. Picked up one of these Titanium grills from Richard his vining and it looks superbly - so much better than the rusty 'epoxy' covered Caterham version which after 3 years had nearly rusted though! Howard
  2. Hi there I had a similar problem which turned out to be the MAP sensor which measures the atmospheric pressure and then alters the fueling to suit. Initially Caterham suggested it was the Lambda sensor and then changed their mind. Try and unplug the MAP sensor - black box by the battery and see if it solves things. Unfortunately this has been a repeating problem and I am now on my fourth sensor within 3 years. I ended up buying a job lot of sensors from China which seem to be a lot more reliable than the Caterham ones. If you need a MAP sensor let me know as I have a few left. Howard
  3. Thanks. Yes I appreciate there are different ones but these are coming from the same manufacturer and have the same model number so I am hoping. The MAP doesn't seem to play much part below 4,000 feet and the car seem to run ok with it unplugged. I guess I will have to have a run tote highlands of Scotland to do the test - a great excuse!!!! I will try these new ones later this week and report. Howard
  4. Update Spoke to Caterham today and they confirmed that it was the MAP sensor which was at fault - they have had a bad batch of these but wouldn't move on reducing the 96 quid they charge. Found the same part at a third of the price so ordered 10 and will be putting the spares on here if anyone wants on. Howard
  5. Hi Had the same problem this weekend and after a few hours trying to sort it out I unplugged the MAP sensor (green plug by ECU on Sigma) and engine ran ok, sokr to Caterham this morning and they admit to have Harding problems with a batch of these. Not sure if they te the same n the Duratech. At Caerham they are 96quid but fund the same item much cheaper so ordered 10 - keep a couple for myself and sell the rest on for £25 a shot. Hope this helps Howard
  6. Final update. Called the raC as the car was dead and was just waiting the 45 minutes when I remembers I had had problems just after I bought the car with the MAP sensor I think it's called - A small black box which sits next to the ECU which has a green plug in it. I unplugged this and the engine started fine and ran fine for the last 40 miles - hOpefly I won't have done any lasting damage. Thinking back this is the third one of these that I have had fail - the original on and then two within a few weeks of getting the car on the road. Anyway he now with a nice cup of tea and only 6 and a half hours to do 180 miles - at last th ful consumption should be good! Thanks for all your help/suggeStions - I will let you know what caterham say Tommorow H
  7. Update. Managed to get the car going again whilst on the phone to the RAC and it has run fine until we stopped for a rest break and now won't start again - getting really p*ssed with it. Hopefully once it's cooled down a bit it will start again and we can do the last 60 miles and I will get on to the techy chaps at Caterham tomorrow. Tried unplugging the lambda sensor and no difference so probably not that. Howard
  8. Managed to get as far as Bawtry and pulled off to get some fuel and just as we. And up the slip road the engine started to cut out! No hissing in fuel filler so probably not vacuum - now wondering if it's the lambda sensor as engine is hunting like mad on idle and cutting out. Going to wait a bit and see if it clears - otherwise it's the good old RAC! Howard
  9. Thanks everyone for suggestions. We haven't been through any water as their weather has been surprisingly clement. It definitely feel like fuelling as it got worse the more I depressed the accelerator. Going to fill up with fuel this morning, check all the connections, have some breakfast and then set out and hope we can get it home. I will book it in again I Caterham and get it checked out next week if we get back, if not we might have a stop over near Caterham midlands and get them to have a look tomorrow (if they are open). Tanks again Howard
  10. Thanks guys, I will check the tank pressure thing in the morning - large glass of wine just ordered to get over the stressfull last hour! The car has been running fine up to this afternoon so not sure what has changed but will do a thorough check of pipes etc before we attempt the journey home. Yes I do have the RAC service so we should be ok if it dies on the way, although when I had the problem with the fuel filler hose disintegrating they weren't much help and all they would do was duct tape the bits of the hose that were left nd send me on my way - lasted about 5 miles before is dissolved with the slashing petrol! Managed to nurse it home stopping to refill the tank every 20 miles or so - 180 quid to do 300 miles..... Thanks again Howard
  11. Hi there We have been touring in North Yorkshire in our 2010 Sigma 150 and 11 miles from our hotel in Harrogate the engine started stuttering and cutting out. The problem seems to me to be with fuelling as it gets worse the more you depress the accelerator. We managed to nurse the car back to the hotel but hoped to head back down the A1 to home tomorrow. It feels like there is some dirt in the fuel system somewhere as if the car is left for a couple of minutes it starts again with a cough and a splutter. I had problems with the fuel filler hose (crap Caterham part which rotted after 18 months) which I wonder if some of the rubber has Allen in the tank. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any suggestions as to the problem? Any ideas/thought would be welcome. Howard
  12. Hi there Just took my Sigma 150 Roadsport into Caterham or a service tody and got hit with the leaking radiator issue - the car is only 16 months old! They tried to sell me a Duratec all alloy radiator a d finally I agreed as they said it was so much better than the plastic topped ones. Anyway an hour later got a call to say that they were out of stock and I would have to have a plati topped on at £170 + fitting+coolant +VAT. I said ok but wasn't happy. To cut a long story short they fitted the radiator and agreed to upgrade it when new stock arrive the end of the month - I just pay fr labour which didn't seem a bad deal. Ended up paying over £600 for the service and radiator though - a bit of a shock. Howard
  13. Hi. I had the same problem on my SV150 when I built it late last year. It fired up but ran very rough. Caterham adjusted on the post build inspection but I then took it up to Scotland for a shake down run and the mileage was terrible and it stalled every time I stopped at a junction or traffic lights. Took it in for its first service and it came out a different car - it was amazing the difference and has been great ever since. Howard Roadsport SV150 Green/Yellow
  14. Hi. I have just fitted an Autocom complete with new Bluetooth module under the dash on the firewall just to the right of the steering column. I ran a couple of headset extension leads then up through the tunnel to the centre just above the tran tunnel where I have used a chrome double cable clamp to secure them and keep them tidy. I am using the Bluetooth to connect to my gamin zumo 660 and a cable to connect my iPhone for music etc. - using the gamin to Bluetooth to the phone so I can answer it whilst driving. I bought a couple of sensor com headsets which are superb and plan to put the autocom noise monitoring microphone thing in the circuit to sort out the volume and box - I wil let you know how I get on. Very pleased with the quality of the sound - get good stereo music, into with my dear lady wife and directions from both the gamin and the backseat driver ! Hope this helps Howard
  15. Hi I had mine IVA'd by Caterham at Dartford and it got through ok, ,however the PBC ended up costing my over £1200 putting bits right and although as this was my first build I was a annoyed that many of the things that needed 'sorting' I put down to the crap build manual. I agree on the headlight wiring - I had done it as per the manual and then were surprised by the charge for rewiring which was nothing like it was described. Although I now have a great car I was left with a bad taste, and an empty bank balance, as part of the 'journey'. Howard
