  1. Hello, Does anyone have a big tube chassis where they can measure the size of the top engine bay, side tubes? Thanks, Chris Perry
  2. Longacre convex mirror 17 inches long same as this here: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Product.do?method=view&n=1472&g=244432&p=15097&c=215&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Base&utm_campaign=Mirrors&gclid=CMyf2Y69q8ACFSKWtAodgUQAhg The brackets have been drilled off the back and i have fixed a motorbike RAM mount onto it. Same as this here: http://www.ram-mount.co.uk/stainless-steel-ubolt-mount-with-1-ball-arm-diamond-base-p-1004.html The ram mount bolts perfectly round the 32mm od tube of a caterham full roll cage. I can email photos if required. Say £25 including p + p. Thanks, Chris Perry
  3. Elie, The full cage is a braced/un-braced steel frame in terms of structures. The rear 'X' behind the seats acts to give the frame stability to side impacts. The 'D' over your head will transfer any side impact loads on the wind screen surround tube back onto the the rear 'X' brace. Forward and rearward impact loads will be transferred to the chassis by the rear stays and side tubes. In reality, as the whole frame is welded any load will be transferred throughout the frame. If you cut out the side bars that tie the whole frame together the cage would not be as robust and the tube diameters would increase in size to take the impact loads. I believe the MSA have recommended loading and loadcases for the design of full cages. The Caterham cage does not meet the MSA blue book requirements but has been tested to meet the required loading set by the MSA. Have a look at this link here: http://www.mjsfabrication.co.uk/roll cages Regards, Chris Perry
  4. Dear All, Thanks for the replies. What is the views on ACB10 as a road tyre. Do they ride as well as CR500 provided the suspension is set up correctly? Thanks, Chris Perry
  5. Dear Blatchat collective, I have been thinking of changing from CR500 to ACB10 tyres. The Avon web site lists: CR500 175/55R13 tyre diameter as 523mm ACB10 Sport 185/50R13 tyre diameter as 528mm Doh!, I'm confused! How does a tyre with a lower profile have a greater diameter? Are ACB10 in reality appreciably smaller than CR500? Thanks in advance, Chris Perry Edited by - chris perry on 3 Jun 2014 20:26:22
  6. Hello Ian, Ok. I have tried an old RIF carbon imperial aeroscreen on my metric chassis already and the holes into the side of the scuttle did not line up. RIF used to make an imperial and metric version of the aeroscreen. Is yours a caterham or RIF aeroscreen? Thanks, Chris Perry
  7. Hello Ian, Is your car metric or imperial chassis. Do you know if the wind deflector fits a metric chassis scuttle? Thanks, Chris Perry
  8. Dear Blatchat collective, Thank you all for the replies. Chris Perry :o)
  9. Dear Blatchat collective, Does anyone know the diameter and length of the split pin that passes through the front axle and locks the castle nut on the Caterham front uprated hubs/axle. When i took my car apart the old ones were mangled beyond re-use and like a muppet i through them out. Caterham Cars parts dept don't sell them, and they didn't know the size! Thanks in advance, Chris Perry
  10. Hello Bob, Because i have been thinking about making some light weight parts for mine and wanted to know the normal weight so i can predict the weight saving. Thanks for taking the time to weigh your steering rack for me. It is very much appreciated. Regards, Chris Perry
  11. Hello jchasey, Sorry to be a pain. Is there any chance you could weigh the weight of your steering rack for me? Thanks, Chris Perry
  12. Hello Bob, Thank you for helping out and taking the time with this question. Yes, the weight of your steering rack will be fine. Chris Perry
  13. Dear All, As the subject line suggests. Does anyone have a narrow bodied standard or wide track steering rack which they can weigh the weight of for me? Thanks, Chris Perry Edited by - chris perry on 23 May 2014 19:18:42
  14. Hello Dave, No nothing has been received! I thought you just had not got round to sending me one. I will try sending you a blatmail now and see if that works. Chris Perry
  15. Hello Dave, Thanks for agreeing to buy one! At £45 i have not made anything. The knobs are made on a manual lathe with ball turning attachment, they are not CNC. Although it looks quiet simple, it is quiet a difficult piece to machine. When the fins are cut the swarf from the cut wraps round the piece and hinders the cutting. The guy who makes them charged me £35 per gear knob and i provide the material. The ali is 7075 T6 and costs £5 per knob. Once p + p is taken into account, plus me going to the post office, i have broken even. Hummmm, there must be an easier way to make enough money to buy a 620R. Please double check what thread size your gear lever is and blatmail. I can accept paypal if that is easier. If you don't like the gear knob when you receive it, you can return it to me and i will give you a refund. I think when you see one for real you will be more the happy. I can't say fairer than that! Regards, Chris Perry
