  1. but I see the photo attached to the wiper bracket. That easy enough to do? I'd rather not drill the dash if I can help it. Yes very easy to do. The hole in the wiper motor assy is very near the size required for the charging socket so just needs a bit more work with a rotary file/mill and a deburr......job done.
  2. In my Ratrace xflow i have...Millers CTV 20w 50 Compitition Semi Synthetic Another one of choice.........Millers Classic 20w 50 Premium Semi Synthetic

  6. Crumbs just looked at the price of the Desoutter. Never realised they where so expensive 😳 Edited by - Whoosh on 13 Oct 2012 16:30:59
  7. A tap of this size is not something i would normally deal with in my normal day to day work however here in the aviation game we do at times have reason to remove perhaps a sheared tap, drills, sheared bolts etc from engines. Paul a long shot for you and one where you will need a compressor and the use of a Desoutter high speed grinder This is an incredably high speed grinder and uses grinding stones certainly small enough for your tap. Take care and no damage will be done to the threads. Thing is now where to get hold of one and can it be done in-situ ??
  8. Chris, i can't answer you questions however these guys may be of use to you if your struggling. burghfield starter and alternator center
  9. Just a nice to know..... The saloon and 440 van models, wheel bearings mounted on the outer ends of the axleshaft and are retained by the oil seal housing to the rear of the axle casing. The 575 van and pick up the wheel bearings are mounted in seperate hub assy and are retained on the axle by nut and lockwasher.
  10. IIRC the van axles were the 4.11:1 ones (but I could be wrong) Saloon and Estate 3.89:1 440 van 4.11:1 575 van and pick up 4.55:1
  11. Never had any problems with Martins Tyres over the years and minutes away from you. Brentmoor Road, Woking, Surrey GU24 9QG 01276 856846 HERE I always tend to raise a smile when i mention prior to work the the wheels are unmarked. So at least then we all know where we are before we start Never had a marked wheel yet by the way Edited by - Whoosh on 2 Oct 2012 10:43:47
  12. Maplins do one with a rubber cap for when not in use Yep used the Maplins one myself. Installed mine in the wiper motor assy. Just needed to open up one of the holes a tad and the thing went in a treat. Out of sight and away from the weather. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x31/Gordon1962/2009_0904DriverHandlingSept090017.jpg
  13. I have used SpeedyCables for a recalibration of my speedo some four or so years back. Yep six weeks to the day for returns. Although a lengthy turn around i am delighted with the work and service. How do I tell if it's the cable or the instrument Re your cable. Easy to do.....Disconnect cable from rear of speedo and for ease wrap a sighter flag around the square drive...ie masking tape or the like. Roll car forward and the drive should rotate you'll see the flag rotating or you should ! You should also be able to remove the inner drive from the outer sleeve with ease.....that is providing there is no bird cageing with in. ie the cable twist hasn't started to unravel. I feel that provided you see the inner drive rotate and it is free then said cable i would have thought be fit for service. Not experienced this problem myself so just a few thoughts to be getting on with. Hope you get sorted for your trip to France.
  14. Yes had one pull up right out side the house only a few months ago. Looking good & sounding sweet
  15. Ratrace have a very good reputation on tuning Sigmas. Not many others about though. Thanks for the reply, isn't that where Gordon had his lovely crossflow sorted? Mike you are quite correct. Since you last saw her i have now added a gorgeous alloy rocker cover that just gives that final finishing touch to a wonderful RatRace build. Mike, if you haven't done so already give Rob Morley a ring, better still ring him and take a trip up to Potters Bar and have a chat.....Don't forget to take a few donuts with you when you go. Rob and Steve love donuts
  16. clicky for above here Ashley to get on the Emerald rollers expect to wait 4 to 6 weeks or there abouts. Well worth the wait 😬
  17. Well we where watching the mens road race but at the start of the climb to the zigzag section at Boxhill, just by Ryka's cafe. Fabulous views and atmosphere as they came around the roundabout and away past the hotel for their assent to the summit of Boxhill. We then moved onto the Michleham bends to watch them lap before heading off into London. Finished our day in Burford Bridge hotel with a cool glass of beer watching the closing stages to finish line. Great day Yes still Yellow Toby now with a blueprint rebuild from Ratrace 😬
  18. Yellow SV Roadsport parked up near the hospital 0915hrs this morning, full hood up annnnd could well have been the same yellow some hours latter passing through Bisley about 4 o'clock. Again full hood and spitting with rain.
  19. For QUAIFE ATB Differentials: When running a QUAIFE ATB Differential in a standard transaxle gearbox, we recommend that you use whatever your vehicle's manufacturer recommends. The QUAIFE ATB Differential does not require any special lubricants. When running QUAIFE gearbox internals and a QUAIFE ATB differential – we recommend FuchsTitan SYN5 75W90. For a QUAIFE ATB differential, running in a rear axle – use a hypoid 90 or 75W90, as above. For those applications that will accept a GL5 or SAE75W90 gear oil, we recommend and sell Silkolene SYN5 75W90 gear oil. We use Silkolene in all our own QUAIFE racing transmissions.
  20. I am now wondering if there is a synthetic 90 grade gear oil that would work as well as the Ford 90 grade does initially but would last longer?? http://www.opieoils.co.uk/images/VARIANT/large/1082.jpg Been using this oil myself for a couple of years with no problems at all. Ital axle with Quaife ATB internals 😬
