  1. Had a lot of issues with my current engine think it is time to look at replacing. 1.8K series must be EU3 and must be in good working order to slot straight in. A supersport would be good but not essential. In the rehab / surrey sevens area but maybe able to go further afield. May consider a 1.6 supersport in really good condition and at the right price. Thanks for looking Ashley Banks ReHaB Piston Broke Award Winner 2014. :-)
  2. I use a CTEK MXS 5.0T Battery Charger with Automatic Temperature Compensation (as it says on the website) tbh no I have checked the water will get some water and ensure the level is good and try the above thanks Paul / Jonathan!
  3. In preperation to take the car out of its hidy hole and attend the rehab meet tonight I put the battery charger on the car yesterday. Just tried starting it and it is dead very dead. Seems now the charger does not even recognise it is attached to a battery. Tried the charger on a spare battery and all the lights light up as expected. Does this mean another battery has dies on me? Should I be doing something to maintain them? Is there a better more reliable option than banner?
  4. Could be interested can I take a look on Saturday
  5. Thanks Craig. One thing I have just thought of is that I may of changed the injectors when I upgraded to the 1.8 I'll do some searching to find which injectors should be used for a 1.6 k series using the plastic plenum and check what is in mine in the morning? Would an oversized injector show symptoms like the above?
  6. Help please! I have recently had to put my original engine back in my car after blowing up a 1.8 k series I have reverted back to my 1.6 k series with original ecu etc. I had a run it yesterday for the 1st time it was idling around 3000 revs but this settled down after about a mile after that it ran fine for 30 odd miles. Took it out again today and had very little power and the same problem with the revs think I may of sorted the revs by doing a TPS reset. but I still have a loss of power this power loss seems to slowly disappear the longer I drive it and will run as expected after a while. anyone have an idea what maybe causing the problem?
  7. I have had to start using an old engine and am refitting all the bits back on. I have come to rifit the dry sump I have these bits (see picture below) that go into the sump. but as you can see the o ring is destroyed. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement should I use something else as well as the o ring like sealant or something on one or both parts? http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j333/ashleybanks1/IMG_20140608_153424_zps760605a9.jpg Another question do I need a gasket for the water rail?
  8. Thanks for the tips have cleaned out pipes and sump myself with the help of Chris Coxall will get my pump refurbed and hopefully all will be good.
  9. during a track day my engine failed and after someone took a look it was discovered that the crank and conrods looked have been without oil he said this would of caused metal filings to enter the oil. My plan is to use another engine and use the necessary bits from the broken engine which will include a dry sump with bell housing and the dry sump pump and pipes. What would I need to do to these components to ensure it is safe to attach to my other engine?
  10. @Steve Thanks for the offer but would not want to take your last lot of that stuff you'll need for next time I attend Castle Combe :) or for the next person that has a wing fall off. Just checking your guide on your webpage aswell looks good will use that when I come to fit. @Mike Do you know anyone using them? Think I may just go with the tried and tested as my past experience of wings deciding to depart from car is not great and don't want to give Ian Reynolds more ammo I also don't want my new shinny carbon wings to fall off. Think I'll find a tube of the sikaflex 292 and hope its not visible.
  11. Thanks Steve wanted that stuff as it worked so well and is still holding the cycle wing on at the moment but don't think they do it any more as its not on there website.
  12. perhaps its not available in black guess I could get white and cover it
  13. @Johnathan I live in Frimley Surrey happy to buy online just couldn't seem to find it will search for marine companies see if that is fruitful. @Titanium7 will take a look at tigerseal assume that it has been tried and tested on other cars. I don't do many track days but have had both wings fly off on me on 2 different occasions already so want to make sure it is solid.
  14. I know its been covered lots of times and I have searched the archives and found lots of useful info. Seems bigheads and adhesive are the way to go. My question is around the suggested adhesive of bigheads PU or sikaflex 292 this may be my crap searching ability but I am unable to find either to purchase. I know I get my bigheads from bighead.co.uk so am sorted there. Anyone know of a supplier of sikaflex 292 in black please?
