  1. Jack, the Mocal mechanical gauge is exactly the same diameter and has the looks of the Caterham electrical gauge less the the wording Caterham on the dial face. Dial face come in black as well as white. You really wouldn't know the difference to be fair

  13. To be honest, it's ten years since I last built a Crossflow and I don't really know who can be recommended these days Not a cheap exercise but boy what a result....Rob Morley, Ratrace & a Beautiful xflow Edited by - Whoosh on 22 Oct 2013 21:40:20
  14. The solution to the problem of charging without to much upset was to put a charge point in the wiper motor assy. Theres a large hole that can be opened up a tad more taking very nicely the maplins adaptor. Out of sight out of mind. Perfect for satnav as well. Works for me Under dash charge point Edited by - Whoosh on 18 Sep 2013 10:13:53

I changed from a Banner a few years back and replaced it with a Yuasa 896 professional. Battery tray & leads stayed as is but the tie down strap did need a little fettle just to get it to lay down between the battery cells. Other than that almost a plug and play installation
  16. OK so to approach the question from a slightly different angle, what are xflow owners currently using. Millers CTV 20w 50 compitition semi synthetic engine oil and a shot of Cam Shield ZDDP anti-wear additive Edited by - Whoosh on 2 Jul 2013 19:49:36
  17. Adam, It was a very similar time last year when i called up Emerald for a map on my flow. Had to wait about 6 weeks for the rollers and the expertise of Dave Walker. Well worth the long drive up in atrocious weather. Delighted with the final results
  18. Caterham aren't always the cheapest and I see they're out of 13'' tyres again just as mine are coming up for replacement Not sure what you are after but George Polly is worth a call. Very reasonably priced and a speedy delivery
  19. Burton springs to mind........here
  20. Nigel, some three years ago i was in the same position as you wondering what to do with an aging xflow. Looking at the options whether to stick to my xflow or replace with a Zetec, eventually i decided to keep the flow..... 1/ because it's simple maintenance 2/ i knew that everything fits nicely in my 7 3/ i love the sound of the Kent engine annnnnd four i also wanted to be a little bit different and still keep an Kent crossflow kicking alive and well 😬 Rob Morley at Ratrace Motorsport, Potters Bar waved his magic wand and has created a beautiful blue print engine. Previously my engine ran with an Alpha ECU and Alpha throttle bodies, today she still has the Alpha TB but is now linked up with an Emerald K6 ECU mapped by Dave Walker of Emerald. Have to say it wasn't a cheap excercise but by the time i finished what i have now is an old school Ford Kent xflow engine built and mapped to the highest of standards producing totally awesome performance. Nigel so theres a different stamp on things and one that might give you a bit of food for thought. I for one don't regret for a moment the road i went down keeping an old flow alive and well. Roll on the handling day, roll on Brandshatch Edited by - Whoosh on 7 May 2013 17:09:54
  21. If you fancy treating yourself to a to a nice balance tool have a look at the Synchrometer. Very easy to use and works a treat on carbs as well as throttle bodies

  23. When i ran an Impreza some six years ago i started off with the P Zeros great in the dry however in the wet it felt rather skittish. Reading the reviews on the Toyos at the time and plumbed for the Proxy T1. Totally different tyre in the wet and one i would be happy to go with if i had such a car today
  24. You where passing the village green around lunch time today. Flying helmet and sunglasses
  25. Very much a long shot here and one i am hoping that someone might be able to help with. A good friend of mine is rebuilding a fire damaged Cobra and is looking for a Halibrand wheel from Image Wheels Spec as follows........... 18" Halibrand Jaguar 5 bolt pattern 18 x 9.5J Not concerned about colour but it must run true with no heavy curbing. Searching for a needle in a haystack i know but should anyone have one kicking about or perhaps know of a possible where abouts then please send me a blat mail. Many thanks.
