  1. Thanks Nige - never thought of asking in the same parish! The wheels are in the UK at the moment and if it doesn't come off with the chap I'm talking to at the moment I will give Jim a ring. Cheers Ian
  2. Anyone trying to shift a set of 4 x 14 x 6 K & N style wheels with Ford PCD? In case there is any interest in a swap I have 4 x 13 x 6 wheels with black centres wearing ok Michelin wets. My current project needs a bit more ground clearance! Ian
  3. Thanks for the input - Nigel has a BDR but I remember now he has been to Ratrace. Comments re cost are noted and that is why I am looking for probably the Dave Andrews of the crossfow world, somebody who knows the engine inside out but doesn't have all the overheads of the big firms. Ian
  4. Thanks very much Kingsley - I'll check them out. Ian
  5. Just bought myself a 1967 Marcos 1600GT and rather than trying to tune the old motor I'm thinking I might get something that's ready done. Happy to go to 1700/1800 but not looking for an all steel screamer, it's for road/classic hill climbs so looking to maintain mid range and not spend a fortune Does anyone know who the people to talk to are for say 140-150bhp xflows these days. Interested in any thoughs. Ian
  6. Having recently scratched a longstanding itch I have bought myself a Marcos 1600GT, but the motor needs some TLC and I want to get it up to at least Caterham xflow spec say 135-150bhp. So before I go spending cash on the old motor has any body got a good engine they want to sell. I going to look at recon trade ins too - but just thought I'd check if there is anything interesting out there. Cheers Ian
  7. 4 x barely used Michelin wet tyres on 6 inch K&N wheels. Ford axle fitting. £200 Ian

Good condition, good tyres and stored under cover throughout its life. Lightweight and easily pulled complete with 7 by my Golf TDI £875 ono Ian

    R500 K

My R500 K may be for sale shortly (a non-Caterham, bucket list classic car beckons). It is a June 2000 car, no. 34, yellow and has done 9,000 miles. It has done its share of trackdays and some hillclimbs over the years but it also did for example 1900 miles in a week round the Alps in 2011, so has been mainly a road car. When I bought it I had an engine rebuild done by DVA at approx 4000 miles with mid range power in mind and also a gearbox rebuild. Its in good condition for the year, but as an earlier poster said, it is 13 years old. One previous owner. Full weather equipment. Full maintenance history. Excellent spec. If you're interested I can email the full spec with some photos. Ian
  10. Yes indeed. Just to clarify, it's magnesium and the standard R500 dry sump version which I'm looking for. I realise this is probably a bit of a long shot but if you don't ask.......you end up shelling out for a new one from CC. Thanks for pointing that out. Ian
  11. Suspect these fall in the 'hen's teeth' category, but I have an unrepairable hairline crack in the bellhousing of my year 2000 R500 . Anyone happen to have one of these lying around doing not very much? Ian
  12. Looking for a set of 3 composite mirrors for S3 CC aeroscreen. Ian

    MSA Classes

For hillclimb purposes, am I right in thinking that a 7 running on slicks falls under the definition of "Modified Specialist Production" as opposed to "Modified Series Production"? I have had a look at the Blue Book and at 12.1.1 it appears to offer a manufacturer the option to apply for Series status if the 12 month production falls under the 1000 mark (which I think it does). Don't suppose Caterham have availed themselves of this? Its kind of academic because our club is still running "Modified Limited Production", rather than "Series Production", but I see it coming up elsewhere, so just wondered where others place themselves.
