  1. The earthing point under the dash on a crossflow is one of the wiper motor mounts. Not sure about the long black wire, it could be the earth for the heated windscreen
  2. Probably obvious advice, but I was always told to bleed from the futhest point away from the master, and work towards it. It could be that you have 2 issues, and the rear caliper is sticking?
  3. Do these have a cable linkage?
  4. For spares I would try Redline at Caterham. They are very good on LA cars.
  5. Have you got a spark going into the distributor, i.e. same test as for the plugs but further back? Are you running electronic ignition, or a coil and points?
  6. Just looked at my LA build manual. It says 40-45 lbs/ft, with the car on the ground

    propshafts

Not sure if you want carbon or not? If you are just after a normal one, I used the propshaft clinic in Bradford. For about £117 they made and delivered a new one.
  8. One area that I think some people forget is to change the brake fluid, as it absorbs water over a period and becomes less efficient.
  9. YHM. Can I have first dibs on the calipers and 1144 pads please? John
  10. My front brakes are sticking quite badly, and as I don't know their history I think I'll just get new ones. Just 2 questions 1) Are the Caterham spares ones the ones to have, or will the ones from a Triumph marque specialist be just as good? 2) Does anyone know exactly what model of Spitfire these were fitted to, or have a part number?
  11. Ian, I got a clutch fork from Redline in Caterham last year. Not a lot of money. For the gear selector, I would suggest one of the car breaker services via google.
  12. You need to tighten them in such a position that there is a curve in the flexible pipe, so that it clears obstructions. IIRC, the pipe needs to curve forward after it comes out of the skin, then back to the caliper.
  13. 'Frontall impact' 'Payed out' 'Phoneing' Is it just me that despairs about this?
  14. Coyote, don't you find a spanner makes them round off very easily?
  15. I would replace the shoes at the same time. It's not a difficult job, you just need to take a picture or draw a diagram, particularly of where the springs go. Yu may need to buy a brake adjusting tool, but they are cheap fron Halfords.
  16. I think the modifications to the lower wishbone mounts are to allow the front fixing to be a nut and bolt, rather than a protruding post with a captive bolt.
  17. £12 on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=rover+k+series
  18. Can you blatmail me your email address, and I will send them over. John

    Xflow help!

When I did mine I just made sure that the lines were seperate, and P-Clipped out of the way of the propshaft. I must admit I got paranoid in this area, and clipped them every few inches.
  20. Oh c**p, I have got a 545i arriving on Friday! Luckily it's still under BMW warranty for a year, as it's an approved used car.
  21. Will do Martin, probably on Saturday it that's OK. John
  22. Yes, the price is OK. As I said in the other thread, I got the car off a friend in the trade, so I paid a good price for it. I would rather sell it quickly, as my new car arrives next Friday. By the way, the first owner was NEC computers. I will also amend the first post to show the service status.
