  1. Hi One last thought, I would definately put a new clutch disc in as well. The only cost c£30. Good luck!
  2. Yes, same thing. As another thought, perhaps buy the new clutch from a different source. Best of luck! PS - I have my 4-spped box out at the moment, so if you want any measurements of the fork done, send me a mail John
  3. Hi Richard My suggestion was not 7 related, it's just that 20 years ago the same sort of thing happened on a Mark II Cortina I had (I know!), and that turned out to be the fork mechanism. However, your failure may not be similar. Did you swap the clutch fork over? If not, it is a common factor. John
  4. Silly question, but have you checked the fork holding the release bearing hasn't become fatuiged and bent? PS - I would love to see you pushing the car with your foot on the clutch. You must be one hell of a contortionist!
  5. Just done the job. It was really easy to swing the gearbox/engine out as a unit, you just need a second person to help press the graebox down as it comes out. It will also make reuniting them after a clutch change much easier. Bottom line is that both methods work, but I think removing both together is easier. John
  6. Hi I'm in the middle of a complete rebuild of a crashed and partially dismantled 7 (Please don't ask why), and I still need the following - Windscreen - Lower part of the bench seats - Good radiator Please let me know if you have any of these for sale, and the price. Thanks. John

    Bump!

    Complete no-brainer. Arch every time.
  8. John Strangley enough, after getting the red rear wings that you have now agreed to buy, I bought a yellow body kit off another member, and he included 6 front wings! I am using the yellow kit as my resprayed and rebuilt chassis will be BRG. I could let you have the worst 2 for very little, which at least would give you some wings as a backup. Let me know John
  9. There is a 5-speed box on ebay.co.uk at the moment. Current bid £26.00. I got one from ebay last week for not a lot more than that so it looks to be a good source. John
  10. Thanks for this. I have thought about fitting a type 9, but from what I've read, in standard form the benefits over the 4-speed are marginal, unless you fit different gear ratios. If this is not the case, I will look at it again. Any feedback most welcome! As to the Zetec, I just can't afford one at the moment.
  11. Hi I have recently bought a crashed and partially dismantled 1995 1600cc crossflow and a 4-speed gearbox, which the previous owner had bought back from the insurance company and them gave up. It had covered 18,000 miles. The car is currently in bits with the chassis at Arch for a rebuild, and now I need to look at the running gear. As it had been taken apart to a degree I have not heard it running. I have 2 questions - Can anyone recommend a company in the Bucks area to refresh the engine? - Same question for the gearbox? Thanks for your help.
