  2. I would ask for another car. Even if the work you have asked for is done, there is likely to be subsequent failure of the high pressure diesel fuel pupm due to the use of petrol. These are ££££ to fix.
  3. Dipstick too long and touching something as the engine spins?
  4. If you are missing a couple of sections I can always post / fax a copy. Let me know.
  5. From the build manual for a LA car I keep by the side of my desk... 'Tighten all the bolts securing the axle to the following torque settings. The 1/2'' bolts to 40 lb ft, and the 3/8'' bolts to between 25-35 lb ft' John
  6. John I've still got the prop my car came with. Not sure of the condition, but the front flange was u/s. It does have the back flange for the ITAL axle which looks OK. I put a new one on, mainly because of the flange and my change to a 5-speed box. I can let you have it FOC if it's any good to you. Perhaps it'll make up for the wheelcentres I lost! Let me know if you want it. John
  7. Can't you appoint a professional loss assessor to look after your interests?
  8. Hi Goonert! You're quite close to me, I'm in Princes Risborough. Just a couple of thoughts - Is it really overheating?, i.e steam escaping etc? The issue might be the sender being faulty, as they have a habit of doing. - Is the fan belt tight enough? However, in my opinion the problem will probably be the water pump. They are dead east to change.

Maybe you need a new oven in SA?
  10. I have a 2 year old Dell 19' monitor they are welcome to FOC. I am in South Bucks, not far from High Wycombe, but I get over to New Malden every couple of weeks or so, and could leave it with my Mother for collection from there. Let me know if this is any good. John
  11. Nigel Forgive my question, but why would the car have a wire from the master cylinder if it was not warning you of anything?
  12. I am not at my car at the moment, but IIRC, (on a 1995 vehicle), the white / black wire connects to the top of the brake fluid reservior, which presumaby illuminates the light if the fluid drops. I presume the two things are in the one switch. One is the fluid warning, and by pressing the switch you can check that the switch is working.
  13. On a crossflow, yes. Not sure about other models.
  14. I think the distance may defeat us, but let me know what you want to do. No problem if this is on the 'too hard' pile.... John
  15. South Bucks, between Aylesbury and High Wycombe
  16. Alex Thinking about it, I have a full spare set in my shed, in very good condition. I bought them to put in my S3, but in the end I got some cloth seats instead. I paid £50 for the set, and I'd ideally like to get this back for the full set, rather than sell one bit individually. Let me know if this is any good? John
  17. Another for the propshaft clinic. I didn't want to use my old propshaft, and this company did a full new one for about £115 delivered. Not a bad price for a fairly safety critical item, bearing in mind it's revolving a few inches from you in a Caterham!
  18. I might have one in my shed. I will have a look and come back to you.
  19. When I did my rebuild I got the fork and bearings from Redline. They had them in stock.
  20. Fitted to all these I think. Capri 1.6, 2.0 1983 onwards Capri 2.8 1982 onwards Sierra 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 Sierra XR4i Sierra XR4x4 2.8
  21. - Clutch cable - Something to catch the gearbox oil - Reverse switch wires - Oil pressure wire - Temp guage wire I think the distributor and oil filter can stay on. I took the engine mounts out completely, although you can swing them to the side.
  22. I needed an unheated one for my non-SV. I took the frame to the local Autoglass, they sent it to their specialist vehicle unit in Bristol. Back within a week, with new glass installed, for about £70. I am sure they would have no problem with an SV, as they cut to fit the frame you provide.
  23. Hi Michael I did this job on a crossflow a year or so back. All apart and back to Arch for a rebuild, including all the wiring in / out. If you need a hand for an hour, let me know. I'm only 30 mins from you. John
  24. Update Eventually I began to get paranoid about this misfire, as I thought I had changed everything that could cause it, as well as checking the timing and the tappets. Finally found out that the NEW coil I had bought from a reputable supplier was duff So, yesterday I am on my way to Penn for the meet, car running really well, when the brakes started failing. I only just limped home before they went completely. Bu**er
