  1. Not sure the new DSG boxes are much inferior to a manual.
  2. Sounds like a developing turbo problem to me. They are a bit known for it.
  3. I would be very concerned about the state of the other major bolts holding the assemblies on, or if they have been used more than once. Major bolt kits are v cheap from Caterham.
  4. I agree Lots of cable ties. If you jack the rear of the car up and support it, you can get your hand quite a long way into the tunnel.
  5. I rebuilt a used car from the chassis up, including rewiring and brake pipes. I was in the same position as you, but I got loads of help from blatchat, and one of the local members even came round with an engine crane and helped me put it and the box in. Don't underestimate the power of this forum for assistance. It's like having hundreds of knowledgable mates. So in summary, it stretched my abilities, but I learned an awful lot, I have a car that I know inside out, and it gave me a great deal of satisfaction to have done it.
  6. The throttle pedal has two positions, and I believe you can adjust the other ones too.
  7. Johnny, found 2 c/w with badges. Blatmail me an address and I'll stick them in the post. John
  8. The centre caps are cheap from Redline, but I might have a spare set. I'll have a look at the weekend and come back to you. John FOC if I can find them
  9. Twas me. Freezing my bits off on the way to a VOSA inspection. Still, I was pleased with the Jill Judd half hood, but I do need to get some new doors! Quite enjoyed the trip, about 50 miles. Car is performing really well, which is nice when you have rebuilt it yourself.
  10. Last year I think I paid about £70 per unit for springs and shocks (Spax from Redline)
  11. Well you must eat 3 weetabix Red, it took 2 or us and I am definately not a 9-stone weakling!
  12. There is a Lumenition guide here. http://www.lumenition.com/PMA50ins.pdf Hope that helps. John
  13. Thanks Mick Cheque in post! John
  14. Can I have first dibs please. I will send you a mail. John
  15. Mine was an arch If it's only 3mm, you should be able to 'persuade' it?
  16. Did mine today, needed a neighbour. Put the stays on first. The OS turret was then able to be pushed forward while we put the bolts in, but the NS would not go. We ended up putting a large length of wood between the diagonal and the loop, and levering it forward so that the bolts would go in. The main bolt was very tight, so we had to lever up the base with a screwdriver, while levering the loop forward. Took both of us 45 mins, and neither of us are weak! On your own, forget it!
  17. It does need a fettle, but I'm off for a blat so it can wait!
  18. Well, job done. Not I may be a mechanical idiot or a weakling, but it took me and the neighbour 45 minutes, and a lot of pushing and levering.
  19. Waiting for mine to arrive. Apparently Jill's been a bit poorly.
  20. I would have a look at vehicle wiring products. They do lots of similar stuff. http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk/
  21. Autoglass have a specialist centre in Bristol. You take your screen into the local branch, and 4-5 days later you collect it with the glass installed. Cost about £70 for the proper stuff, kite marked. You can buy the glass from Caterham, but if you are an idiot like me, you end up breaking it while putting it in, and then paying twice.
  22. Thanks chaps. I'll give it a go at the weekend. Hopefully my Jill Judd half hood will also arrive, and it can go on too. I've gone for BRG with the 'easy-out-fat-bast*rd' fitting. Should be good.
  23. I have a live axle car with the standard roll bar. I am just about to put an FIA bar on. Is it as east as it looks, or are there some quirks I am not aware of?
  24. Wouldn't the steering UJ break first?
