  1. I don't think the holes will be oval; there are black plastic covers over the spindles which are oval, but the actual holes in the scuttle once you get these off are round.
  2. eBay, Car Builder Solutions, Polevolt.....there are loads of places that sell grommets.
  3. Think I've fixed it. I ordered two belts from Rimmer, one genuine, one pattern. The pattern belt was marked as 735 and went on first. I also undid all of the engine mounts and pushed the engine over although I don't really think it moved. Tensioned the belt up and now I have a few mm of clearance.
  4. I'm already missing our pre-season track day this weekend because the car's not ready and with a rebuilt car, it's pretty important to test it out. At this rate I'll miss the first race at Silverstone in two week's time as well....
  5. I've started by ordering an OEM and pattern belt from Rimmer. Will see what turns up.
  6. Thanks both. I'm not sure if there is enough room to re-route the hoses (and that would still need a shorter belt) and from a regs perspective it might be difficult to get aftermarket hoses made. Alternator belts are free. That 730 might be an option, it would be 8mm shorter than the current belt and 5mm shorter than OEM. Should give 4mm more clearance. Revilla - didn't you post that you bought a belt from Rimmer Bros and it turned out to be a 730?
  7. Continuing with my never ending car rebuild, the alternator is hard against the chassis rail. The belt is 738mm which is a little longer than the 735mm I believe the OEM is, but 1.5mm is only going to give me about 1mm of clearance. Part of the problem is that manufacturers seem to give equivalent part numbers to 5PK735 that vary in length by a few mm which might be OK in an MGF but not in a Caterham. Two questions. Is there any other way to create more alternator clearance? I've loosened the engine brackets to mount bolts, I could potentially undo the rubbers as well but I can't see that giving me more than a mm if anything. Does anyone have a certain source of belts that are less than 735mm? I have an Apollo, so I cannot go too much shorter either. Something like 730-732mm would seem better, unless I can create alternator clearance in another way. Charles
  8. I now use Nordlock washers on those bolts for that exact reason.
  9. I was going to suggest that it wasn't M12.... I don't do those up massively tight. They cannot come out because of the damper. And at least it means you will be able to undo them. I'm sure Redline will have some with the heads turned down.
  10. Is the cage metric or imperial? (when was it built?)
  11. More pictures added....fitting the cage...not fun. Caterham rebuild 2015
  12. 250lbft Snap On digital torque wrench available here!
  13. Item(s): Engine crane, 41mm socket, 250 lbft torque wrench, imperial/metric taps and dies (I'm sure there are other tools that people want to borrow that I have!) Location: Surrey Lender: CharlesElliott
  14. You want http://www.corbeau-seats.com
  15. Redline? 'second set of shocks with soft springs for wet use' - how you've changed!
  16. I often wondered whether the Caerbont speedo already had an input for a hall effect sensor - generally their speeds have. Having said that, I think the issue with the Caterham one would be the limited calibration, even if the sensor input was there. If you find out, please let me know!
  17. Agree - ring Tillet and/or look at getting a bead seat made up (Real Essential, Schroth Indi) etc.
  18. If you want high tensile imperial bolts (as in 10.2), then Margnor is probably the best option. For other fasteners, eBay is as good a place as any; loads of choice, 'free' delivery and people like Spalding Fasteners always deliver next day.
  19. I have updates to the bolt list as well, but I'll save them up before I submit them to Shaun...
  20. Yes, but as only certain people can edit the content, I'll need Shaun to do that.
