  1. You might want to speak to Caerbont gauges about whether the Caterham speedo can accept a wheel speed sensor input. The pin out implies that it can, but I've never actually checked with them - and I would be interested in the answer! The Caterham speedo also has very limited calibration, so even if it can electrically, you might beed Caerbont to recalibrate it which is going to cost you £80. To put it back as Caterham intended, you'll need gearbox drive gear in gearbox, and not capped. Top hat and speedo drive connected to gearbox drive gear. Speedo drive connected to loom. Other end of loom connected to speedo. Speedo working.....
  2. It would have been a car that raced with me in the Academy. The standard 2004 speedo used a gearbox drive to set the speedo. Do you have the speedo drive?
  3. To be honest, taking it apart is proving quicker than I expected. Happy to have your try and beat your record though Peter.
  4. OK, cage off yesterday, (mashed) fuel tank and boot floor out earlier. Now started on the rear with the o/s now apart. Then I'll do the n/s, rear ARB and A-frame then the De Dion can come out. Given that, I'll probably extract the diff with prop in place. Still got to remove the loom, brake pipe front to rear and fuel feed/return.
  5. Everything's got to come out before the chassis gets dumped!
  6. Yes, up and about. Still not 100%, my resting heart rate is high and I still have bouts of tiredness, but definitely better thank you.
  7. Stripping my car for a replacement chassis. I think I remember that the prop needs to be unbolted before the diff can be removed. Is that correct?
  8. Still don't like Eazibleeds even if the calipers are on the correct sides.
  9. Bleed using the pedal and not Eazibleed. It's not always very easy and I've had the same problem before using one.
  10. Ditto Richard and Simon. We have 100 cars a weekend racing 20-30 minute races and no-one ever complains of brakes that aren't up to it.
  11. As you first suggestion. Into the rail at the rear of the engine.
  12. Replied now, sorry for the delay....ill and all that.
  13. A spare engine of the same spec as the one you have?
  14. Looking for 2 (or 4) Omega 371 forged pistons, ideally machined for a 1.6 but unmachined/1.8 OK. Also a 1.4/1.6 standard crank for a K series. Charles
  15. I would struggle to pay £6K - maybe £7K if it has a V5.
  16. I need to clear out my every increasing garage(s) of stuff. Don't expect too much because it is all free! But you do need to collect it promptly, otherwise, I'll just take it to the tip. 1 x nearside rear wing in black. Unused but probably has some marks on it. I think it was from vicfibretech. But it was too heavy and chunky and I didn't like it so didn't fit it. 1 x offside rear wing in black with standard light cluster. I don't vouch for the wing but the light cluster works! 1 x S3 windscreen surround in black 1 x Food waste bin (eh?). Unused..... Probably more stuff to add as I go through the piles and piles of spares and stuff.....
  17. It shouldn't really be necessary if you have a working thermostat.
  18. My first car took me 100 hours. I would think 80 hours is more than possible if you know your way round the car. I'm about to strip mine and rebuild it on a new chassis, so we'll see how long that takes
  19. 17mm and 19mm covers pretty much everything on the rear suspension except for that 3/8" hex at the top.
  20. For road or race use? With or without helmet and HANS?
  21. Turn the shock upside down and smack the platform with a hammer downwards. Rust, loctite, Bilstein stickers will all try to hold it on but it should come off. The De Dion tube is probably 1/2" UNF. It is also hard to get the bolt straight into the thread as the shock tends to try to move it another way....
  22. Muzzrace on the Litchard industrial estate in Bridgend can probably do it. They support at least a couple of Caterhams.
