  1. First dibs have been dibbed, but still open for expressions of interest should that dib not become a sale.
  2. Yes, but once you've given up on such a car, get it sold. It can't be that hard to pick up the phone to Mathewsons (or another classics auction house that isn't on the telly).
  3. Forgot to mention: Selling after a swap to Tillets.
  4. I have a pair of S-type leather seats from an SV available. These are 59,000 miles and 18 years old, but were reconditioned 8 or 9 years ago (I forget which). Frames are good, leather is good, padding is good, plastic squab bases have minor cracks but don't wander. Runners are movable (but not what you'd call "freely") but rusty. 18 years in an open car with carpets will do that... One of the upper rivnuts in one runner (that the seats bolt into) is loose, but they're not hard to dremel out and replace. I did exactly this with another one a couple of years back, you can see the witness marks in the picture. Only one seat is pictured here as the other is in a box, I can dig it out if essential. With runners these are £925 per seat new from Caterham; you can collect the pair from Sheffield for £600, or I'll consider splitting at £350 per seat if no-one wants the pair. Postage would be... "interesting", given their size when boxed, but I can investigate options for serious enquiries. Posting here for club members first, before potentially posting to Facebook marketplace in a week or three if no takers.
  5. Hi all, Reasonably soon I'm going to have a 1600 K-Series engine available and surplus to requirements (and, nowhere to store it). A couple of years ago it came out of (I am told) a Megagrad car that went on to have an Ecoboost conversion. As such it's a 1600 with solid lifters (again... I'm told... I haven't taken the thing apart!) and whatever other tweaks these engines have. The Macmillan Motorsport label on the top and the fact key bolts are still wired / sealed suggest that it hasn't been altered since last built by Macmillan, although I have no solid proof of this. It also has a non-standard sump (plug on the right hand side, which I'm led to believe is so kerb strikes don't tend to unwind the plug, which would ultimately be kind of bad). Being a Megagrad it should put out about 150bhp which feels about right, although I haven't put it on a dyno. Currently in our car while its 1800 gets a rebuild, runs fine as an engine; video can be supplied. Also included will be the race clutch which it came with, which is pretty much an on/off switch and therefore reasonably horrible around town / at low speeds. Clearly you don't have to use that part... Expressions of interest around the £1,350 mark welcome. I do not have an exact availability date as yet, as this will depend on completion of the 1800 rebuild and reinstallation, but some time this summer seems likely. If something disastrous happens to the 1800 (unlikely!) then this engine ceases to be available. Obviously. Offering specifically here and to CL7C members only at this time.
  6. Thanks all. New crank sourced, so the immediate need has passed. VVC or other upgrade considerations to follow in a bit.
  7. Sooooooooo... our crank is toast, seemingly, so, need a new 1800 K-series big wobbly spinny thing. Talking to the nice man at Retro Sportscars who found this out (and is looking for a crank...) he mentioned the very simple way to make the stock 1800 produce more power is to do a VVC conversion or, even more simply, swap it for a full VVC engine. I realise this is a very very long shot indeed, so for the moment let's just stick with, anyone got a good-condition 1800 crank available?

    Deleting stupid duplicate post...
  9. Car / engine work dependent, I'm pondering some track days in 2022. Question, how much experience before you can claim to no longer be a novice? I'm vaguely thinking Croft for the novice sessions, then possibly Blyton, but I'm a big fan of Donington Park, which, I've driven many years ago (Jim Russell race school, 1990-something), but... "for intermediate and experienced drivers only".
  10. Thanks Graham. Undecided yet but might see you there!
  11. Follow on question, are spectators permitted to arrive the day before and camp over on-site? Many thanks
  12. Spotted leaving the Union Street / Churchill Way island (Halfords) around 11:20 on Tuesday 10th of August. If you glimpsed a silver Vantage* in your mirrors, that was me. *CLANG!
  13. Anyone here in the G-prefix with clamshells in Pickering this afternoon? We were only 2 cars back at the lights by the station but the green cycle was so short we couldn’t follow. If you spotted the red SV behind you, that was us...
