  1. Not had a standard nut come loose .... I use a flat and spring or shakeproof washer
  2. I blank off 1/3 or 2/3 of the nosecone with black closed cell foam between the 7 grille and mesh at this time of year.
  3. Nuts should start by hand. If a nyloc nut, the nylon bit must me the other end of the nut. Original bobbins had a 5/16" thread. New have M8 as I understand it. Get a bobbin with nuts from Halfords or eBay.

Whatever you run, be careful in low temperatures.
  5. Removed my rear ARB. Much nicer to drive without ... on the road.
  6. What do you need to do ? You can make up your own hose by carefully cutting the clamp bands off each end and fitting the end fittings to 7.6 mm bore fuel hose with screw fuel hose clamps.
  7. Yes ..... you can undo the two screws and remove the fuse rail. You can reach both sides of the bulkhead if you take the door off. Fuse rail doesn't go very far, being restrained by the wiring loom. Mobile phone with flash on is good for taking pics. Also with door open or off, kneel beside car on nearside and look under dash. You can see fuses.
  8. Possibly related to something you have done. Check wiring to light switch and dip switch. Follow 12V through the connections. You'll find it.
  9. On my k-series it was the lambda sensor giving these symptoms. Unplugging it .... it ran fine. Bought a replacement on eBay from the number on the old unit. Sorted.
  10. Use the right engine mounts. Plenum just clears bonnet on my VVC
  11. I made mine ignition-switched so it connects to a spare switched terminal on the ignition switch. If you want to connect directly .... then feed it through the big rubber grommet at the front end of the tunnel.
  12. T1R for me too. Great in the wet.
  13. From another contact in Grangemouth ... Hi Ian. We don't have anything so small here. However. We use a company in Glasgow. Called west of Scotland engineering. Tel 0141 959 8800. If you ask for david and say we (BTS Engineering) put you on to them he should be able to help. Rgds. Gary
  14. PS .... hope you speak the language !!!!!!
  15. Morning. Excuse the lack of carriage returns ! Spoke to my pal in Glasgow. They are specialist aluminium welders. He said a helicoil kit would cost £40-£50. Suggested they could fill the hole with weld then drill and tap M5. Cost around £20. Give Stevie Thomson a call. See contact details on http://stsspecialistservices.co.uk/contact Tell him Ian James sent you !
  16. I have just sent an enquiry to a friend in an engineering workshop near you. Watch this space.
  17. Can you take the stripped part off the car ... to be able to take it to a repairer ?
  18. When scanning topics .... details of latest post doesn't show. Bring back "Aggregated" ..... please.
  19. When I used to receive Classic & Sports Car magazine, it always carried lots of advertisements for specialist tyre suppliers for all types of very old cars .... even older than a Series 2 !!
  20. Don't know the detail of the application .... but could you drill and tap M6 if it is an M5 thread that has stripped ?
  21. Just a thought ... is the ESV at Handcross for L2B at the beginning of November ...... anyone coming up from Solent area ?
  22. I would start by talking to Redline Components in Caterham Valley. Contacts ... Mick and John. They have a lot of experience with older Sevens.
