I probably have a 3/8" bit I can lend you .... it is cut from an allen key and used in a 3/8" socket. Let me see if I can find it and measure it.

Is it supposed to breathe through fuel filler cap ? If so ... maybe this is blocked ? Is there an inrush of air if you remove the cap when problems arise ?

Many tyres show week number and year .. but only 4 digits ... ie 1114 for week 11 in 2014.

My Cree LED sidelight bulb just fitted in place of the 501 glass 'pea' bulb.

Polevolt do a range of connectors. I would solder and insulate with heat shrink if it was my car.

I don't understand the waterproof requirements. On my SV 5.75" headlights, the sidelight sits in a rubber grommet inside the headlamp bowl.

Certainly worth jacking up the front and checking for bearing play ... holding the wheel at 12 and 6 o'clock. Also rotate wheel and listen for clicks.

You can also use them to prop bottom of doors open in hot weather (a la 2CV) with rear popper fastened. Improves airflow.

Why not take sick bolt to local fastener supplier and get something the same size. Doesn't have to be same thread. Or phone Mick at Redline Components for reasonable postal charges.

Would it be easier to remove the steering rack than the engine ? -
It would be scuttle off, not dash out. Maybe you can see a screw near or piercing the loom with a phone camera .... take a few pics with flash on. Guess you know from AA man intervention which part of loom to narrow it down to. Good luck.
