  8. Well, it was still going great but blowing a bit of blue smoke out after ticking over a while, oh and a bit of oil leaking from the front left at the head gasket where the main oil gallery comes up from the block, oh yes, and the compression was down about 10psi on No1, head gsket was shot, but no coolant in oil or loss of same. Oil pressure is fine, runs all day long at 50psi. Mr Wilson pulled it apart, only 2 valve stem seals remained. A couple of valve guides installed, new stem seals, a smidging skimmed off the head to clean it up, valve seats cleaned up. Generally worked his magic and now...forgotten how good a Crossflow can be, its a little dream. Looking forward to a summer of fun. Well worth a couple of days at the health farm. Does anybody know where you can source the JR air filter replacemnt elements for the 40DCOE set up?
  9. Way back in about 2010 my 2007 sv150 was hailstoned upon in italy. It resulted in me needing a new bonnet and scuttle, the grp wings and nose withstood the 1" diameter hailstones... the ally didn't. I got a new scuttle and bonnet and changed out myself. The 24 forward facing rivets you mention were not drilled out. The scuttle came away from the main body section at the bottom of that bulkhead, it was stuck in with a silicon type sealant, definetly not adhesive. The new scuttle panel came complete with the bulkhead.
  10. Hi Chapman 101, it must be an age thing (us not the cars), i think my '81 sprint will go on the market soon ive had the thing for over 12 years. I guess its a similar spec to yours since after talking to bruce at Arch it appears that its essentially an s3 lotus since caterham didnt really change much until the long cockpit cars around 83/84. I must tell my pal who has driven mine a lot and is looking for one.
  11. I agree with Derek, I think im approaching "keep it in the garage" stage with my 81 crossflow, it took i a lot of water in traversing cod beck ford south of osmotherley on wednesday, however pulling the carpets and bench seats out for drying was a 2 minute job.
  12. I have one in the garage somewhere, shall i look it out, i think that it has a small scratch on the face though.
  13. I would imagine with an omex engine of 210HP in the mazda you'd have a latter day elan with the added reliability and additional oomph for modern day needs. The omex throttle bodies will give it a wonderful clatter.........close your eyes(?) you'll think your in a 7
  14. Always found stainless steel "Bigheads" and stainless steel tyraps as per the late and much missed "richard in france" (R i F) stick the bigheads on with sikaflex or similar.
