  1. B4 is an improvement on the B3, which I have fitted in my S3. Steve had a problem with the mold for the B3, so he made some improvements and made the B4
  2. Hibster, that was a joke No wonder you need help on which oil to buy - better get a garage to do your service 😳
  3. What makes it good, well coming higly recommended from a company that deals in oils, rather a company who happens to have a commercial tie up with an oil company and sponsorship. Also maintaining good oil pressure whilst being used on trackdays, and at a good price. And my engine not yet blowing up (Kiss of death) unlike yours Dave
  4. Have been using Silkoleen Pro S 5-40 on my R300 engine for the last 5 years and it has been very good. Used on the advice of Opie oils, who I bulk buy the oil from. Used to use Mobil 1 in my old xflow. Opie Oils give a good service give them a call, but if you do a search on here, there was an oil thread which lasted for pages and pages a couple of years ago

    Servicing

Don't think Dave Andrews (DVA) does servicing, he's any engine builder and a damn fine one at that

    Wet tyres

I've been trying to get part worn wets from Pro Tyre for over a year now, just phoned again, they are like rocking horse sh1t. As the radial wets once worn are used as inters, so they seem to last ages. New wets are £500, so rather than spend that, I'll just stick to CR500's and won't drive on the track in the hissing rain

    Helmets.

I've got an Arai Phil Reid rep as well, which I used loads before I bought my Arai GP5K. I wouldn't get rid of the Reid rep, Its a great helmet

    Helmets.

Most people use bike helmets at UK trackdays. If you are doing any comp you would need an FIA approved car helmet. This subject has been covered loads of time, so a search will give you all the advice you need.
  10. Have used a Starcom for some 4 years, both touring and on the track, brilliant bit of kit. Plus you get a 10% discount if in the club. Suggest you read up on both Autocom and Starcom and then see which suits best, they both handle things slightly differently, Starcom is an open mike system.
  11. Don't know, never fitted the shield, don't think I even have one
  12. You can polish up the caterham system, if that's your thing. Personally, I'm more interested in how it kills the db's so I can get on the track.
  13. I've had the Caterham 4:2:1 system on my car since 2002, no major issues, its on a R300 engine and I have never failed a noise test yet, its normally around 94db. I've got the 7 inch race can, and its not repacable, which for me is a bonus
  14. I use the same as Mark, and have had no issues over the last couple of years and some 14 trackdays, they still work great with no fade. I run slicks as well
  15. I've got a Selca IM3.22 fitted. Its Thatcham approved etc. http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarms/selca/selca_im3.htm
  16. Unbolt from the lower mount. PITA to adjust though when fitted. Speak to Steve Tillet and see if you can cut the whole larger. That's the route I'm taking with my seats I bought direct from Steve - When I get around to it though
  17. Car setup - Competion car suspension design, construction. tuning - Alan Staniforth - Haynes. Loads of setup info Race and Rally car source book - The guide to building or modifying a competition car - Allan Staniforth - Haynes. Not quite as good, but still ok Driving: The tecnique of Motor Racing - Piero Taruffi. -ISBN 0-8376-0228-9 Old book, but still relevant and loads of driving skills ie cornering, braking etc Edited by - Casbar on 2 Jan 2008 13:45:58
  18. And the car was such a bargain 😳 Makes me glad I bought my son an old mini, though still lots of spannering
  19. I think I've got a pair, but live in Salisbury, so there might be someone nearer
  20. I'm obviously talking brollocks then
  21. Ok, my mates car, has Caged SL cage, and there is no way his half doors will fit, they would if they were fitted permie, but not to be able to remove them as and when
  22. Don't think the half doors will fit with a SL cage. Although I believe if you buy the carbon ones from Mog you can get them to fit. As far as I can remember though, they either have to be on or off as there is not a lot of space between the cage and the body.
