  1. That's just what I was thinking . . .
  2. To make them easy to remove just enter the Academy race series, they'll soon be removed!
  3. Spotted in the marina car park sporting a half hood as we were on our way to our boat!
  4. Stock answer from CC to any problem in my experience :(
  5. I put a very tiny nut over the metal pin on the rivet - a nut that will fit inside the popper base, this way the base is pulled up tightly against the bodywork when the rivet is set.
  6. On behalf of an ex-member that some will remember (Trevor Ayles) so please call him and not post here. Minilite type 13” alloy wheels, K&N Minators, Ital fit. NOT FORD. Fitted with Yokohama A048 tyres. 2x 185x60R13 and 2x205x60xR13 on same size wheel. These are on the limit for road use but ok for a few track days. These came off my old Caterham. Collection or courier after payment in full. £200. Trevor - 07759 870675
  7. IMHO one of the best models of Caterham for all round use. If I ever get tempted back into ownership this is the kind of thing I'd be looking for. Good luck with the sale!
  8. I don't think I'd expect to find 100% compliance with 'washer-use logic' when reading the Caterham assembly guide, when I built both of mine the application of washers seemed quite random!
  9. Yes, the timing of the build of my Academy car coincided with having our lounge redecorated so Caroline was fine with me bringing bits of car indoors to wrap! If you look elsewhere on the blog you can find me wrapping the bonnet on the kitchen table as well!
  10. This is how I fitted BigHeads on my academy car (half way down the page). I used the stuff they sold to glue them on with but I did have one failure so went back to Sika 292 (as used on my other 7) and never had another problem. http://www.sevenracing.co.uk/Caterham_Build_Diary/Entries/2012/11/4_Day_14_-_Brakes%2C_cycle_wings%2C_rear_wings_and_more_wrapping!.html
  11. I don't think it is unusual for the roll bars and cages to be a bit of a sod to fit, stories of people using ratchet straps to help get things to line up and needing to elongate holes spring to mind. Not trying to excuse it, but it is an area where I remember others having difficulties and tackling in different ways. My Academy roll cage was a real PITA to fit, took a couple of evenings before I had all bolts fitted.

    Build manual

CC must get asked many build related questions all the time and I believe they generally respond quite well with notices, photos etc. Many years ago I suggested they make these docs available to registered users online as a way of helping people trying to build their cars, but they didn't take up the idea. The usefulness (or otherwise) of the assembly guides has been legendary for as long as I can remember so I can't understand the reluctance to host some photos and pdfs, can't be hard surely?
  13. SAS wheel-clamp, in carry case with 2 keys, £60 Would need collecting from Gosport.
