  1. New build, 400 miles so far but disturbed by 'clonking' eminating from the differential. Have read all the previous threads on this topic and feel that my noise is a little excessive, to me anyway. I understand people in the past have had the diff replaced under warranty. Has anybody with a new car also expeienced this and approached CC?
  2. Result! Caterham are replacing them, for Shaun Cummersun
  3. Clive Have removed the wheels and put plenty of pressure on the brake pedal and will see if the seepage happens again. Don't really think we will be out on the road in the 7 for a wee while as I am getting enough thrills in the ordinary car on the snow 😬
  4. I think the fault last year was similar but relating to the rear calipers here
  5. Not coming from the nipples or hose connections which probably means the seals. This seems to be seepage as there has been no use of the brakes for at least 2-3 months. Has there been any history of problems with new calipers in the last year? Would this be a warranty issue?
  6. New build with standard calipers. Only 300 miles and then into garage for the winter. Both front calipers seems to have a 'drop' of brake fluid on the lowest part of them probable appeared over a couple of months. Brake pedal still firm, not spongy at all.

    New Build

Save some cash for the IVA if Caterham are doing it for you! With the tax, numberplates, first registration, IVA and a small amount rectification work due to manual being out of date in regards to the latest IVA requirements resulted in a bill of nearly £900 Anyway, if confusion occurs a posting on here will result in a solution within minutes, worked for me last summer! Don't get too frustrated when you find you cannot finish any sequence of work due to shortages. Build pictures here
  8. From the manual Classic or Roadsport - 3380mm Superlight - 3100mm SV - 3530mm CSR - 3300mm
  9. Is it me or do others have this problem? 1600 K engine and the ignition key, with the Caterham plastic end is too long and is difficult to get into the ignition switch as it interferes with the lower dashboard cross tube.
  10. Have you tried Brite Lea compound on a a buffing mop? Can be bought over the phone here
  11. Had some fitted at the weekend and the garage reported they were a 'challenge' to get onto the rims due to the cold ambiant temperature.
  12. Agree with Grubbster regarding the torque wrenches. Bought 2 of the Halfords professional range to cover the full range of settings required. Also needed an adaptor/reducer set for 1/2" to 3/8" socket ranges. Screwfix have a 2T trolley jack for (garage work) at around £23. Height was not really a big issue as a block of wood will add the addtional height to sit the car on the axle stands on their highest settings. (Lift in 2 stages). Ebay also have a Silverline set, including 2 stand at a reasonable price as well here
  13. Martin Have a look here, it may help. here
  14. Same problem on my recent build. Solution was to 'dremel' out a hole in the inner plastic until they fit over the spindles. (The outer '7' stick on badge should not be ground away). Build pics here Edited by - Titanium7 on 14 Nov 2009 16:31:06
  15. You may be able to thread it down if you have room. Push out one side and then drop the other end down inside the chassis rail and pull through lowering it to the floor(if that makes sense?)
  16. Thinking of replacing the standard throttle body on a EU3 new 1.6K engine for a larger 52mm version. The second hand larger body has been modified and had the stepper motor removed. What effect does this removal have and is it compatible?
  17. The IVA manual says that the front edge of the cycle wing must extend at least 30 degrees from the centre of the wheel to the front. I've just completed my build and used the 'Big Heads' and cable ties but Caterham piped additional black gunge all along the stays as well as they said it would have failed just with the cable ties!
  18. Thinking of purchasing some protective film from here Has anybody use this film and tried to apply it themselves if so how did you get on? Where are the most important area to cover? Build pics here
  19. Just finished my new build. Diff should have a small brass tube protruding from it. CC just sent a length of heating hose to push on. This tube is quite thick so you really need to have the boot floor out. The tube is then secured to the chassis with a cable tie or two out by the offside wheel.
  20. Hi Roy I would like them please if you could let me know the postage
  21. Try pressing the immobiser fob 4 times in succession, this seemed to work nfor me! Edited by - Titanium7 on 28 Sep 2009 19:57:31 Edited by - Titanium7 on 28 Sep 2009 19:57:55
  22. Thought it wouldn't take many minutes for it to go.
  23. Spotted as I was leaving around 10.00am this morning. I was in the Titanium Silver Classic.
  24. Just noticed K16 SEV is available on the DVLA site at £245!
  25. Boxford and Denford often have he odd refurbished one but they may be a little expensive.
