    Mouse traps are cheaper 😬
  2. Clive - Hope to pick it up next week 😬 Andrew - Will post the costs when I find out, I know it will not be cheap! Grubbster - Yours was one of the build diaries that I referred to many times during my build Very helpful My own record of the buildhere
  3. Yep, home built and then trailored to Caterham Midlands for the post build check and IVA in Nottingham and now registration and numberplates by them.
  4. K 1600 Apparently they have not had a good week, their own new demonstrator failed on exposed brake unions as well!
  5. Big disappointment ☹️ Caterham Midlands report that my new build has failed the new IVA Apparently it was the rear fog light that should only be operational when the main lights are on. It worked independently! Missing all this fine weather ☹️
  6. I have just used the bigheads and cable ties from rif on my new build and Caterham Midlands then bonded the whole width of the wingstays as the IVA test fails cars with just the cable ties. It failed anyway because CM had not wired the fog light to go out (or not go on) when main beam is on. ☹️ Edited by - Titanium7 on 10 Sep 2009 19:06:23
  7. Many thanks for all the replies. Have talked to cover systems today regarding a car top cover, apparently they are not tailored specifcally for a 7 but will fit reasonably well. They have none in stock for several weeks. Not sure about the 'shower curtain' option as I have concerns over the colours and patterns available, a bit 'whoosy' I would think? Will also pop into Halfords to see if they still do a car top version. Car at Caterham Midlands this week for it's IVA so a little concerned over the posting in Chitchat that 2 trailers were stolen over the weekend 😳
  8. Visited by a relation over the weekend with a Morgan. He had a 'natty' nylon. Shower cover that just fitted over the cockpit. Can anyone recommend one for the Caterham Edited by - Titanium7 on 7 Sep 2009 22:39:41

  10. Spotted on Battlefield roundabout around 10am today heading up the A49
  11. Yep Clive, couldn't wait until March! As if I was ever going to wait that long! Due over to Caterham next Saturday and the IVA on the following Thursday.
  12. Can anyone advise on the rubber trim required on the underneath of the indicator pods please. Does it need to be one continuous piece? Do Caterham (Midlands) check all this and add any missing pieces at the post build check when they are presenting the car?
  13. Just masured my new build which is ready for its IVA. 1070mm between the front tyres when sitting on the floor
  14. May be able to save you some elbow grease with this job Tools + materials required 1 x electric power drill Stitched polishing mop 1 arbor (bolt + Lock nut+ 2 Large washers) to fit Power drill chuck 1 bar of FERROBRITE compound £4.84 + VAT 1 bar of TRIPOLI £1.97 + Vat Brasso + rags Load by friction onto the mop some Ferrobrite and polish exhaust all over. Repeat with the finer Tripoli. Remove any deposited wax with the brasso and a rag. Result - Mirror Finish in very little time. Job done You may have to use a more aggressive method to remove any heat staining but I am sure the Ferrobrite would do it. Polishing compounds can be obtained from here Edited by - Titanium7 on 26 Aug 2009 06:44:38
  15. Same thing happened to me but a new engine this time. Problem solved by cranking for pressure several times. Eventually the noisy tappet filled with oil.
  16. New Build - On full lock the cycle wings hit the indicator pods 😳
  17. Replaced a faulty handbrake cable today. Car up on stands Back wheels off Seats out Tunnel top off Drilled out rivets on plate on back of tunnel top and removed ally plate Slackened nylon thumb wheels with screwdriver Released cable ends off calliper levers Removed handbrake nylocs and bolts Pulled old cable with handbrake out through tunnel into car removed split pin on bench to release old cable on the bench Wait for postman with new cable fron Sean! Reverse procedure to fit new one with plenty of swearing, always helps! Job done
  18. Hi Roger Perspex is a trade name owned by ICI but is commonly used instead of acrylic which is chemically called Poly(methyl methacrylate). Other comon names (mostly trade names) for acryilic are Policril, Plexiglas, Gavrieli, Vitroflex, Limacryl, R-Cast, Per-Clax, Perspex, Plazcryl, Acrylex, Acrylite, Acrylplast, Altuglas, Polycast, Oroglass, Optix and Lucite. Acrylic is ideal for the sacrificial covering you describe and very cost effective in small amounts. It can be easily bonded with clear silicon.
  19. Screwdriver the way to go! Having the same problem myself, having found the nylon adjusters poorly threaded resulting in them slipping back down the cable when applying the handbrake. This is a new build as well!
  20. My company sells shed loads of it in small quantites and large, all thicknesses, transparent, transleucent, mirror and all colours both cast and extruded sections plus glues for acrylic etc etc. Blatmail me for the contact details.
  21. Finishing new build and attempting to adjust the handbrake ready for the IVA. Adjust the two nylon nuts but as soon as I check the handbrake movement the nuts slip down the cable as if they are either poorly threaded or stripped. ☹️ Has anybody else come across this?
  22. Sorted Our friends at CC had fitted a 7.5A fuse which obviously had blown instead of the required 15A. Always the simple things!
