  1. Not such a long shot Give Paul my regards, he says your car is morphing into carbon!
  2. New Build - Steering rack finally turned up! Standard S3 chassis, no wide track front end. Book says 11 turns of track rod ends, done this and the front wheels point all over the place! Extreme tow out! 14 turns put them approximately parallel with the sides of the body. Questions Has anybody experienced this? Am I doing something wrong? Do Caterham check and reset the tracking at the post build inspection?
  3. Car on stands, and steering rack not yet fitted. Hubs twist from side to side with a small amout of resistance. Wondered if something is too tight? Latest build manual also suggest to torque up top and bottom wishbones at this stage as access is limited when car on its wheels.
  4. The manual sstates the uprights should move freely. Mine are torqued up to the correct settings but I would not not describe their movement as free moving. The are slightly stiff to move. Have I done something wrong?
  5. First there was the official list of shortages 2 Front Suspension Struts Left front brake caliper Dedion rear brake pipe front wing repeaters plus a few further minor items Then the unofficial list found when rooting through the box for the next bit both front light brackets both front top wishbone bushes windscreen washer jet I'm sure there will be more as we progress.
  6. It arrived and as predicted could not finish any of the initial sequence of building as key pieces were always missing ☹️ On the bright side I've fitted the water bottle, horns and number plate light and have a new friend called Sean Cummerson
  7. Just wondered if afterwhether reading so many postings about frustrating shortages whether they had got any better? The titanium refers to paint although this is as expensive as the real metal!
  8. Yipee! Rumour has it I will be seeing a Cateham delivery van tomorrow after a five month wait! Should I be worried about shortages?
  9. Whoops! Just spotted it after posting the message.
  10. Excuse jumping in but I am about to receive a Classic kit with one of the remaining K series engines. I understand that if the foam baffle is removed there is a small adaption in the form of extra hole(s) drilled in the aluminium plate. Does anyone have a photo of the position of the additional hole(s). The original links in this forum to this adaptiondo not seem to work anymore. Would it be prudent to remove the foam baffle before fitting the engine and then not have to worry?
  11. Hi there First dibs on 20) 2 Side Sills offers-under £10 Are they Stainless, do you have a picture of them?
  12. Thanks for all the advice, seems there are obviously several different sequences of build. The main concern from all the reading is the the prop shaft, whether its easier to slide into the gear box when fitting the engine or mating up to the diff after the engine is fitted. Ordered Spec is 1.6K 120bhp Titanium Silver paint Leather seats Heater Windscreen + weather gear Start button carpets 4 point seat belts standard roll bar Pretty well aimed as a fun road car
  13. Thanks for the welcome! This then indicates Steering Rack (but not the column?) Front Suspension Engine + Gearbox + Propshaft Differential Rear Suspension etc or am I missing something!
  14. New to Club, new to forum Classic Caterham with standard 1.6K on order, due next month, very excited Have read extensively this forum regarding the ins and outs of the Caterhams but am still confused on the build order. I have both an old K series and a new (downloaded from CC) build manual. The build order is completely different. Is there anybody out there with build experience of the above and can give advice?
