  1. Tried that one but problem does not go away! Wondering if it could be the relay?
  2. Frustrated again! Connected all wires correctly in the Econo Plugs. Indicators all fine both L + R Operating main Headlight switch to side lights - Both sidelights ok Operating main Headlight switch to main beam - Both Headlights ok Operating dipped beam switch - Headlights go to side lights 😳 Operating high beam switch, blue light in dashboard clock flashes but headlights do nothing ☹️ Checked both 15A fuses - both Ok Any ideas please?
  3. Problem solved, went back and re-started and tapping had gone! Patience is a virtue!
  4. Yes, speed related. Will it evenyually prime itself?
  5. I seem to be plagued with unwanted noises! Followed manual for first time starting, plenty of pressure then reconnected the enertia switch and bingo the engine started after a few turns Unfortunately I have a very loud tapping coming from the top of the engine. Left the engine running for a minute of so but still there. Also ensured the correct amount of oil was in the engine (4.5l for a wet sump standard k 1600). Any ideas?
  6. The noise is eminating for the unit which goes by a rubber hose and enters the throttle body level with the butterfly valve. When I remove the plug it stops, is this the IACV? Someone else thinks this is normal with the keys out!
  7. Would this be active without the key in the ignition?
  8. New Build K1600 = First time connection of battery a whirring noise then a constant very high pitched noise (not loud) coming from the injection area. Keys not in at this stage. Put keys in and all other electrical systems seem to be working. Any ideas? Is this normal?
  9. Thanks, just found 4 spacers which have solved the clearance problem. No mention of this in the build manual!
  10. Just trying to fit the radiator to find the anti roll bar interferes with the attached fan. Not able to tigten up the outer rubber bush nuts by about 6mm because the AR bar is pushing into the fan housing. Anybody else come across this? Thought of putting in some spacer bushes to push the radiator forward? Would this solution perhaps interfere with the fibreglass nose?
  11. Thanks Mark A phone call to Sean at the factory confirmed that there is the same issue with the starter motor housing and the passenger footwell as you had. After downloading your posted pictures when you had the same problem and five minutes with a dreadnought file I think the install at the weekend will be fine. Will post a message on how it goes. Build Pics so far http://rides.webshots.com/album/573505213YQaKKX
  12. Thanks for all the tips. Has anybody else come across the clearance problem with the bell housing and the extened passenger footwell? Mark (or anybody else) will it go in without the housing being ground away?
  13. Thanks Willie Not heard of taking the alternator off before. Is this essential, the build manual does not mention this? Have a second person coming to help so hopefully should be a lot easier.
  14. Engine going in next weekend, diff and propshaft already in. Have the crane and load leveller. Any tips please?
  15. Engine due to be fitted in a couple of weeks. Most of the build is complete apart from a couple of shortages from CC. Still waiting for a front left brake caliper! As most people have commented its the supposidly simple things that take the longest. Mostly the 'soft bits' were the most worrying but all went well.
  16. New build going well but have found a Union Jack badge in one of the boxes. Can someone tell me where this is supposed to be fitted to the car. One like this https://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2953&osCsid=0394648ec296f0a653f4095ec308a6e5
  17. Any ideas what the standard exhaust (K Series), with the built it Catalyst is made from, Is it mild steel? The catalyst part looks like Stainless!
  18. Anybody know how long the wait is for an IVA booking if you were to use Caterham Midlands?
  19. Thanks everyone. Have found the section in the IVA manual (web draft copy) and it refers to the front edge of the cycle wing must not be less than 30 degrees measured from the centre of the wheel, (1 o'clock in effect). Will ponder on the various methods of attachment, Bigheads + cable ties, bonding or the bolts. Everbody seems to have their own opinions, and there does not seem to be a agreed preference overall.
  20. All standard stuff,GRP cycle wings on 14" wheels. Just need to know how much wing comes forward of the front stay.
  21. Our friends at CC have supplied the front cycle wings for my kit with no drill position markings on for the stainless bolts. Can someone give me the measurement from the front of the wing back to where the front bolts are positioned?
  22. Thanks I suspected that plate was the only option in that area of the engine.
  23. Getting ready to put the engine into the car. K series. CC have supplied 2 ally plates to bolt to the engine. Have found the front right bolt that one of them can be bolted to but need some advice where and what the left rear one can be bolted to?
  24. Has anyone got a decent assembled photo of the rear caliper or can point me towards an assembly diagram? Mine have been delivered unassembled in may different parts!
