  1. Been speaking to Chris at CC. He recommends a front height of 135-140mm which is what I have, so alls good. He also recommended +12-14mm as the rear measurement.
  2. Thanks for that Richard. Yes I've got the wide track version. I've got about 3cm of thread showing below the rings, (similar to the photo), if I keep threading them up, I'm worried that they will run off the collar. I'm also wondering if having 13'' wheels makes a difference to the ride height suggested in the manual. 15cm minimum from floor to chassis seems a lot. Edited by - timmydamini on 17 Feb 2010 19:19:54
  3. The threaded sleeve is on the bottom and the platform rings are as far up the shock as they can go. I've put in a call to CC so I'll see what they say, I'll try to get shock dimensions from them to make sure I got the right ones. If I have to, I'll take off the springs and relocate the sleeve.
  4. I've posted this elsewhere but felt I was hijacking the thread, so I'll post it again. I've been trying to adjust the ride height on my R400 build. Manual says front ride height should be min 150mm from underside of chassis, (where rear leg of lower wishbone exits) to floor. I have adjusted the platforms on the bilsteins up full and can only get 135mm, (laden). Is it possible to move up the collar? How? Or; Is 135mm high enough? I have about 115mm clearance to dry sump pan. Many thanks for any help.

  6. Hi all, It's time to fit the front wings in my R400 build. The manual says there are guide marks for alignment with the front stay, but I can't see any. Did I read somewhere that it is better to bond the wings on? What do I align them with? i.e. how far forward or rearward to I place them? Any advice appreciated. Many thanks Tim
  7. Just goes to show that you can take nothing for granted with these cars, everything has to be double checked.
  8. Hope you got sorted, CC sent me my replacements so hopefully that's that. On another note, went to put in the engine oil on my R400 build. Didn't realise there was no bung in Dry sump tank, four litres on the floor of my garage, felt such an idiot. Couldn't find any bung in the kit, back onto Sean in 'Shortages', (he must be the busiest guy in CC), it arrived so I'll try again tomorrow.
  9. CC came back to me. The advise is to put fluid in the system, pressurise it, leave it idle, and see if there is any leak from the caliper. Then contact CC for a replacement. Hopefully, my calipers are not among the faulty batch and won't leak.
  10. Got a letter from Caterham today saying that there has been a fluid leak from the handbrake mechanism on some rear calipers. Anybody know anything about it? I've only just put on the rear calipers in my R400 build, should I change them before putting in the fluid or try them to see if they leak? Is there a way of know if the particular calipers are among the faulty batch? Called Caterham, waiting for a call back.
  11. Hi ya, Not a separate forum area for each, I was just wondering if it would be helpful to have just one forum section where anyone could post area info and discuss event organisation etc., . For example, I live in Southern Ireland, I don't even know if there are many members about. Maybe if there was an 'Area Forum' I could check in there to see if there was anything on within striking distance. Ian: That's a very slick page that north kent has, I doubt if there are enough of us in Southern Ireland to be that organised.
  12. Would it be beneficial to have forum for local area business? i.e. for the area meets listed in the magazine?
  13. I think the charge is £350 for delivery to Millwood. The biggest cost for me is vehicle and ferry, which I'd have to get in any case. Anyway, I fancy a visit to the factory.
  14. Thanks for the photos Ian. Have organised an Isuzu NPR (6 metre vehicle with box body), for the trip, should be plenty room in that. Will be collecting my first ever Caterham early on Monday April 6th. Really looking forward to it.
