  1. Hi Revilla A quick scout around the web leads me to believe that petrol engines run at a higher temperature than diesel engines. Therefore, my assumption would be that diesel engine oil is not designed to cope with the heat generated by a high reving petrol engine and would create higher oil temperatures (which is what you are seeing). I have to add that I can, in no way, be considered an expert - it just seems logical to me. I always use the Comma Motorsport 5W50 oil. Simon

    Half Doors

The are a few pairs for sale on Pistonheads.
  3. Hi Revilla As part of my attempts to resolve my water temperature gauge issue (see other thread), I've used every pretty much every type of sender that is compatible with the gauges. The 'old' style ones are pretty pants and seem to fail regularly. The 'new' style supplied is much more robust and the one Caterham supply is listed as 150 degrees (which I had assumed would lead to an incorrect reading). Therefore, I also bought this which is listed as 120 degrees. Each seemed to show the same reading and I'm now running the 'new' style Caterham one and have ditched the last of the 'old' style ones as the core was loose. I have 2 of the 120 degree ones in my box of spares. Hope this helps. Simon
  4. Clumsen Sorry, it's the Track Day section. Simon
  5. Clumsen, there is a guy on Piston Heads Caterham forum trying to sell his place.
  6. Hi Roger Re the garages, it was like that last year. It all sorts itself out eventually... Re signing on, they're pretty flexible and you can do the briefing 1:1 if necessary I think (they're have always been people turning up late on each trackday I've been on and there's never been a problem). Simon P.S. I'd be interested to follow you for a couple of laps given you've probably raced there loads of times.
  7. Solved at last! In case anyone is interested... Oil pressure gauge was the gauge and a new one fixed the problem. Water temperature gauge took a bit more work however I'm now an expert at removing the scuttle and also at soldering. It turns out it was the sender cable that was at fault. I removed and cleaned every earth connection I could find on the car - that didn't work. Eventually I created a new set of cables for each of the connectors on the gauge and, by a process of elimination, worked out which was failing. I ran a new cable via the heater from the sensor to the gauge and it's working perfectly! If only I'd tried this first... Simon

  9. I'm coming to the same conclusion....
  10. I'm after a pair of SV / CSR half doors. Anything considered. Simon

    Carbon Areo

Have a BTTT on me. Because of this thread I got the SV one mentioned - I've been looking for months!
  12. Have you tried Sevens and Classics? They had a few there when I had my car serviced there last week.
  13. I'm selling my airchamber as I now have a new garage so it is surplus to requirements. I bought this in November 2014 from Airflow Uk, the manufacturers, and it's a 'sportscar' size with dimensions 4.15 x 1.8m x 1.7m. My CSR fitted it and it did a great job of keeping the car damp free in my old swimming pool of a garage. It has 2 fans that keep a constant flow of air through the chamber and costs less than £25 per year to run. I paid £425 plus P&P for it, looking for £300. PM me if you want photos or further information (see the wesite here). It would ideally need to be collected as it is quite bulky. Simon
  14. Hi Ian B, if you could collect mine that would be great! Jonathan, let me know what I owe you please. Simon
  15. BTTT in case anyone is having a clear out...
  16. Hi Tom Yes, it was a great afternoon. Was giving it a test run in prep for today. Simon
  17. It was a bit chilly when we started Martin but the roads were fairly clear so had a nice run through to Crawley. Good turn out too. Simon
  18. Clive Sure. PM me and I will send at the weekend (currently out of the country). Simon
  19. Bought these recently with the intention of fitting them on my CSR but have changed my mind (I want a carbon aeroscreen more!) They are brand new. I'm looking for £120 plus postage (cost me £140). They don't have the cutout on the left wing. Simon
  20. I bought a cheap lapel mike from eBay and put it in the passenger footwell. Works for me!! Good engine noise and no wind noise.
  21. Hi Jonathan, yes, they are what I ordered. They look like they might do the job and should be easy enough to try out (and they're relatively cheap if they don't work!).
