  2. Hey Doc, interested... How much? Simon
  3. You answered the other version of this question. Nobody deleting posts on here.
  4. 3 7's heading down the hill in Goudhurst, the rear car was red with a white stripe. Spotted from my office while working

Ah, the good old CSR rear tyre... Avon and, well, that's about it. You should be able to get them direct from Avon and there is also a Birmingham based motorsport company who stock Avon tyres but their names eludes me... Simon

    CSR Query

My CSR, with the swoopy dash, has a QR boss and Momo steering wheel. It was done by the previous owner so I have no experience of doing it myself. The indicators don't self cancel but I have a loud buzzer so that's not a problem. The horn button has been moved to under the column housing which is a bit of a pain and I may move it. Simon
  7. MadCat, great footage! I thought your lines were pretty good, very smooth. Re your comment about the sound of a K-series, 5min 45s... :-) Simon
  8. Jim I agree with you as, in general, people were very good and, as I say, it was a small gripe. However, there were 2 cars (not CSR's I hasten to add) who were particularly unhelpful (which is probably the best description) pulling over as if to let you pass them and then flooring it thus making it impossible. They certainly didn't spoil my day just made it a bit frustrating at times. I think that sessioned days do make this more apparent as everyone is bunched up and so maybe I'm being a bit unfair. I know from my first trackday, which was also on the Brands GP circuit, everything was quicker than me and I'm sure I held a few people up - but never for more than 1 corner. Simon
  9. Thanks Andy for organising, What a great day! Despite the forecast saying rain, it stayed dry and warm all day - perfect!! And our group managed to not have any red flags all day, unlike the other two... One slight gripe... I'm sure it's a beginners mistake (we were all beginners once) but a couple of drivers were making their powerful 7's very difficult to pass and holding up lots of people for far too many corners (and it wasn't just one session...). Lap times are a combination of corners and straights and if cars are catching you, please let them past. We can all drive quickly in a straight line... Gripe over. Simon
  10. I think that's really nice... But I do have a soft spot for 70's design.
  11. Hi Jean I have bought this and tested it and it works absolutely fine. Just be careful when putting the new one in as you musn't overtighten it. Simon
  12. My oil pressure gauge went full scale but didn't cause any issues with starting or fuses blowing. It turned out the gauge was faulty (I was able to borrow a spare from a blatchatter which proved mine was broken).
  13. I did see a photo of a 7 that had the number plate mounted angled slightly upwards (like a small wing?) which I assume meant there was some kind of bracket under the nose cone. I liked this idea and would love to be able to find the picture as I want to do something similar myself. Simon
  14. I have 2 tickets for this event which, due to triple booking that day, I am no longer able to attend. They are the highest price tickets and have, therefore, the best view of the event (block 101, row K for those who know the venue). The doors open at 6.30pm. They cost me £167.50 (incl. booking fees) and I'm looking for £120 ovno. Simon
  15. I would look at making the bolt holes in the aero elongated so that you can introduce some slack into it. It probably only needs a couple of mm's each side and you'll be able to position it as you want. Just remember a mask and protective glasses while doing it. Nothing ever fits perfectly on a Caterham... Simon
  16. Mankee Here's one. Free phone, £17 per month at carphonewarehouse.
  17. You can also get new ones very cheaply these days.
  18. I got mine working last night. I ended up making a small bracket to move the sensor away from the calliper as it was a very tight fit! I also covered the wires in cable shrink stuff to hopefully remove the chance of any chaffing. 2mm worked for me too.
  19. Hi Martin Just wanted to check how you tested the sensor as I was being completely dim last night when I fitted a new one to my car - it's not working. I'm not going to explain how I was trying to test it as it's too stupid. Having thought about it since, I reckon that as long as the ignition is on, I can 'wave' the sensor near the cogs (rather than have them turning in front of the sensor) and I should at least see the light at some point? This will prove that it's working. Then, having fitted the sensor (it's a very tight fit with the caliper...), just turning the hub should trigger a signal and, therefore, the light once it's in the correct position. Correct? Simon
  20. Hi Gary My non-mechanical one did that recently (it went up to the highest reading and stayed there). I borrowed a gauge from a member, swapped them over and this proved it was the gauge that was at fault. £80 later and all's good again. Simon
  21. Really enjoyed last night and go to give another friend a few laps. Had a great few laps with a green SV that had an orange noseband - he was making me look very ordinary on the corners. I have some video and photo's of him so if you contact me via BM I'll send you what I have. This was my first track day where all the cars weren't 7's and it wasn't as bad as I had expected. A few dodgy drivers (one red car in the garage with us tried to go 3 wide in Druids, overtaking cars inside and outside of him...) but generally the standard was good and the drivers would let us past very quickly. Hope the guy(s) who went off are ok. Last I heard was that a wheel came off - quite scary!
