Welcome William I think I probably own a tiny bit of your car given my monthly 'investments' on your site 😬. Still, when I finally win the 620R, it'll be fun to meet you! Good luck with the build. Simon Edited by - makingff on 6 Feb 2014 22:18:39
  2. First dibs on screen please, just need to check with SWMBO... Edit: Assume this is interchangeable? Edited by - makingff on 4 Feb 2014 09:24:52
  3. Mark They were all ending today so have probably finished by now.

    StEVEN

Heading towards the Cranbrook / Staplehurst / Sissinghurst roundabout this afternoon - I flashed my lights from a black Evoque. You looked well covered up - was it a bit cold?

    Goodbye from Me

Geoff Many thanks from me as well. My introduction to track days was through the club and have been enjoying them ever since.
  6. Agree with the previous comments, a good day despite the weather! Two things about the day that stuck with me. Firstly, Shad's car seemed to be on rails all day long, whatever the weather - very impressive! Secondly, I'm in awe of the guy in our garage who went out in the rain with 600hp under his right foot! A mightily impressive bit of engineering and b@lls! Simon
  7. Cancel that - found them. 7.30 registration, 8.30 drivers briefing. Simon
  8. Stupid question (can't find my joining instructions - doh!), what time is registration tomorrow please? Simon
  9. Quoting myothercarsa2cv: AntR, I think that would worry me as I have a full metal cage holding the battery down, wouldn't want it fouling! #potentialstupidquestionalert# Why would having a battery cage make a difference? It's the negative feed so earthed anyway? Looks like a good solution to me! Simon
  10. Still one of my favourite cars ever! I also remember seeing Hans Stuck drive one at Brands back in the 80's (Ford C100(?) ran that day too). It started raining and the M1 was going so much quicker than everything else until a 911 spun at Clearways and the M1 couldn't miss it - end of race. BASF red. Then, a few weeks later, a German registered one pulled up near where I lived and the owner was looking intently at the engine. I just watched in awe... Simon

    Heater

    And the price is...
  12. Quoting myothercarsa2cv: I had a shocking brake pedal feel for years (2208 car). 2208 car! What engine do they use? Simon
  13. Yes, thanks for organising Geoff, was a great evening. The driving standards were excellent and only one spin all night (that I saw). I shared the garage with 2 silver cars - a k-series and a lovely CSR 260! I paid the extra £25 for some tuition and boy was it worth it! Have yet to check but it felt like I knocked about 5 seconds a lap off my times and was so much more confident in the car afterwards. Only downside is that I may have got through a new set of brake pads... Looking forward to the GP circuit now next month - can we order the same weather please Geoff? Simon
  14. Solved! The bulb was not actually blowing... The connector at the rear had come loose. A quick squeeze and it's all working again! I do now have several spare bulbs... 😬 Simon
  15. Just looked up dowty seal - looks good! As I'm not near the car or the new washer, any idea what size I'll need? Thanks. Simon
  16. Have gone through 3 bulbs in the past few weeks - they just seem to be blowing. I cleaned everything up that I could see last time. I'm guessing some kind of earth problem, anything I can easily check? Simon
  17. Well, that didn't work... ☹️ Oil out Sunday it is then, new washer, even more things crossed. Simon
  18. Update... Decided to go the PTFE tape route, realised I didn't have any, partially undid the sump plug, cleaned the oil off then used some Hylomer (?) Blue round the tread and re-tightened the plug. Left it a few minutes and tightened a bit more. A bit more cat litter on the garage floor and fingers crossed! Simon
  19. Quoting Mark W: If you just want to stop the drip until you next change the oil ............... unscrew the sump plug a few turns ( dont remove fully !! ) and wrap some PTFE tape around the thread both sides of the washer .Rescrew tight . It worked for me I'll give this a go first and then can do the full repair if necessary. Thanks all. Simon
  20. Ok, drain pan ordered as well. Should be a piece of cake now! Famous last words... Simon
  21. Quoting TomB: If you try to change the washer with the oil still in the car, any chance you could set up a web cam so we can watch just how much of a mess it makes 😬
  22. Thanks for the responses, it seems as though I should be able to get away with changing the washer without too much trouble. Have also invested in some Hylomar Blue for the thread and noted that 'hand tight with a small spanner and a bit' appears to be the correct torque! Simon
