  1. for Richard at Automotive Engineering, Ukfield. Simon
  2. Geoff Slight change of plans means that I may not be able to do this now :-( hence, no form. Still hopeful so the form and cheque are ready to go if anything changes... Simon
  3. Andy You should have a section in the manual that explains how to run it in. Essentially, you do several full tanks of fuel (4 or 5) starting from just running it on the bench (no throttle) to doing figure of 8 runs using 1/4 throttle, etc. etc. before tuning the carb. There are loads of videos on youtube which explain the process. Worth noting that it's very important to prime the carb before trying to start and this time of year, heat the engine first with a hair dryer. Simon
  4. Sorely tempted for my son as I got a HPI Trophy 3.5 for Christmas and it would be fun for us both to have one. Too many other things to pay for though unfortunately (mainly Caterham related!)... Good luck with the sale though, looks a nice car. Simon
  5. When I went in there a few weeks ago, they recommended this one here which I bought. Looks great quality and I fitted with some velcro an a couple of cable ties (just in case!). Will be wiring up mine using the sub-loom once I get 5 minutes... Simon (Edited to fix link) Edited by - makingff on 14 Feb 2012 13:28:04
  6. Email received, thanks Geoff. Form will be in the post today!
  7. And thanks to Phil (whoever you may be) for the email. New battery ordered but will try your suggestion as well. Simon
  8. Thanks for the replies. Will stick with a Banner this time round. Simon
  9. Caterham are out of the at the moment, anyone got one spare? Simon
  10. All My car has not been used for 3 months but has been garaged and on a Ctek conditioner during that time. The car turns over but after a few seconds it just seems to run out of juice and won't turn over any more. Haven't managed to start it. Having looked through all the threads, I reckon the Banner is on its last legs. As far as I can see, I can either get another Banner (www.tayna.co.uk looks a good source) or a Powervamp which a lot of people seem to prefer. I don't have a cutoff switch and would prefer not to have to disconnect the battery after each run. Given I have an immobiliser, is my only choice to use the conditioner and, therefore, another Banner (I've had not trouble with it for 4 years so am happy to do this)? Or can I do the same with the Powervamp (it's this last bit I'm not sure about...). Thanks Simon
  11. I was informed, by an ex-Caterham employee, that the foam helped keep the oil temperature down. I don't know if this is the case or not (not being an engineer) and, for the record, have had my foam removed and the gasket mod done. Simon
  12. Geoff Put me down for the Brands GP in May. Was sooo good last year, not going to miss this one! Simon
  13. Sorry, just seen the (L) in the title... Doh! I'll take it, will BM you. Simon
  14. Spoke to you as you were going to pay for the petrol. Simon
  15. I did this earlier this year (K series 1.8vvc). Mine was running hot and no amount of fiddling was bringing the temps down. In the end I decided to get a new rad to see if this cured the problem. I went for a Radtec Extreme radiator (call them, they're are very, very helpful). Was going to fit this myself but chickened out and got Automotive Engineering (jj48 on here) to do it for me. Once the air was bled (read everything on here about how to do this and do fit a bleed tee if you have a heater - when people say be patient and wiggle hoses, they're not exaggerating!) everything was fine and the Radtec is excellent and keeps the car at a steady 80 on a run. 16. Agree with all the comments above, thanks Geoff. If you could arrange the next one in the summer so we could have some sun. Oh, hang on a minute... Simon
  17. They seem to be pretty unreliable so for the price of a new one, proably worth changing. Make sure you don't tighten it too much - it's a tappered thread. Simon
  18. I have had a Radtec Extreme on my previously hot K-Series and it keeps it nice and consistent around 80 when running and no more than 95 when stationary. Very pleased with it. Simon
  19. I have a set of standard rear shocks and springs sitting in my garage. If you're in Kent, then I'm just down the road. Simon

    A229 Cranbrook

That would have been the early morning Kent Blat with the 3 non 7's - Ferrari, Lambo and Evo. Great run we had! Simon
