  1. £10-50 - depends where you try to sell it. Personally because of the current low prices - I'd hang on to it for a few years, they're certain to rise in value.
  2. He'll struggle at that price - it's the auto box that's the Killer, spoils a great car. ☹️
  3. If you remove the reverse gear stop - be carefull who you let drive the car coz its easy to select revers instead of first gear 😳 😬
  4. I used a normal type 9 box the one with the short input shaft. Not the standard Caterham type 9 [V6] which is about an inch longer on the input shaft, compared to the standard type 9. This still leaves the box rear mount about 2" further back than a 4speed box [ this is due to the 5th gear alloy extn' housing] which all type 9 - 5 speeds have. 5. Not sure whether you would have to redrill the mount holes on Xflow flywheel, the zetec flywheel will only fit in one position on the crank due to the fixing holes being drilled to prevent the flywheel being fitted incorrectly. Another problem would be the crank sensor notches which the 1800 zetec flywheel has but the X flow flywheel certainly doesn't, to run a zetec you need the crank sensor at least you do with TB's and 3D mapping.
  6. Chris I forgot you also need to fit a Ford spigot bush into the drilled hole at the clutch end of the zetec crank, I used a sierra spigot bush but I believe all fords use a similar Bush.
  7. I have a 2 litre zetec fitted in the 7 - my clutch is the standard sierra 2 litre DOHC unit, mated to a 1800cc zetec flywheel which has been drilled to accept the sierra cover. This setup works well and is the simplest/easiest/cheapest way of fitting a type 9 clutch to a zetec. the 2 litre DOHC clutch has lasted over 5 years with my mates 220BHP zetec fittted in a Sylva fury KC, and 2 years in my 7. *thumbup* I'd check the part number for the 2litre DOHC sierra - the Dunnel item is probably this the DOHC looks different from the 2litre pinto clutch by having the plate 'segmented' the standard pinto is not though both have the 23 splines which you mentioned, and both would fit - the DOHC item is obviously tougher Edited by - S47zz on 1 Mar 2009 15:33:32
  8. I've got a BGH built TranX type 9 5 speed SC - I love the noise it makes, and this racket suits a 7 when driven quickly. It's somewhat strange with the quiet 4th gear though, but this is great for cruising through town, and when Mr Plod is in attendance. My 5th gear is 0.9 which suits my 2litre zetec car, but it's the 2.36 1st gear that makes the box special IMHO Oh I have a 3.5 rear ratio Quaife ATB fitted too and can vouch for this setup over a 3.7 or 3.9
  9. I use 21's in 70 section - no problem at all *thumbup* Cheap too *biggrin* 😬
  10. Oh come on guys give him a break - he's an optimist on price for sure, but he's not the first optimist to post on this site So cut him some slack
  11. If you're mechanically minded the work required is obvious & easy once you've got the 5 speed box in position, at least it was on my S4

    S4 for sale

KGH Nope my original S4. See my article on simple sevens site, for the details. I'd like to get it back but price is way too high, considering the condition ☹️ Mal

    S4 for sale

Not sold - Hope the Classic car dealer trying to sell my original S4 see's this, he's currently asking ~ £9K for a similar condition car

    S4 for sale

Forget it - It's overpriced, it needs a new Chassis, and the original Alloys are not with the car, these are irreplaceble.

    S4 for sale

I rebuilt my S4 - It's not an undertaking I'd recommend unless you have good patience and determination to succeed. SOme parts of an S4 are barstewards to remove and replace, and some bits are now unobtainable. At 5K it's a fair price but anything more I'd suggest buying a car that's already been restored. ANd check out the restoration photo's B4 parting with your cash.
  16. Why not go the whole hog remove the paint and get it polished
  17. *biggrin*Best tool ever - the Angle grinder
  18. Jigsaw is good, or you could use a 'Nibbler' head fitted in an electric drill chuck, either way use paraffin as lubricant or the blade will clog up
  19. Angle grind off the offending bit, just cut off the minimum amount to give clearance.
  20. Can be a real bitch to remove - you definitely need a slide hammer, it's the only way to get the halfshaft out
  21. IMO - the easiest way is to use a fluid of a different colour, and bleed each corner till you see the new fluid coming through *thumbup*
  22. Redline are good but top of the pricing scale other than CC that is ☹️ I need front adjustables - so also need a supplier with good prices just like 'elie boone' I bought rear spax adj from Redline for my S4 so don't know whether they are similar to S3's anyone know if they are the same mine cost £182 inc p&P I still have the box so could get you the number if needed Mal
  23. Sounds good - though using normal 'celly or 2pak' paint the results you can achieve at home are impressive - the end result depends on the initial prep as mentioned above. The 'pros' who charge high prices for resprays are really taking the pi$$ IMO. Anyone with a modicum of common sense should achieve a great result, give it a try, the feeeling after successfully repsraying your car is well worth the time spent on the prep
  24. 3 litres is far too much oil - the halfshafts will be running in it constantly and that's not good. or the way ford designed the axle to work. The hub seals are integral with the bearings as mentioned above and normally seal very well, that's assuming you use the recommended quantity of oil, and standard hub bearings. undoubtably the oil is pressurised and forced it;s way passed the seal. How did you fill up with 3 litre of oil? the filler also acts as overflow so simply remove the filler nut and drain of the Xs oil B4 replacing the hub bearing/seal.
