  1. Minilites ain't standard on an S4 so you'll need to sell 'em and buy the correct wheels. Steering wheel is wrong, and you can't buy one of them anymore. Dash ain't standard. It's a a bitsa. better to buy a complete original car. at £6.5K this is overpriced, no the seller's havin' a laugh. Finally an S4 is a barsteward to rebuild so you've been warned

  3. It really ain't difficult to spray the car URself, preparation is the key though anyone with a modicum of common sense can achieve a good result. cost would be :- £20 for primer £40-60 for paint £20-40 for thinners £10 for masking tape £25 for a disposable carbon filter mask. Plus the car would need the prep which would include filling and rubbing down etc, possibly the most important bit You can rent a compressor and gun £25 or so. I can't really describe the pride you'll get after spraying your own car, and then oggling it in the sunshine - one of the best feelings in Car DIY
  4. Grab the money fast, B4 the mug realises he could buy a Brand new zetec for that money
  5. I'm heavy on my tyres:- Front 185/70x13s ao21's last 4500miles Same tyres on the rear 7-800miles 😳 Great road tyres especially in the wet
  6. Your 4.1 ratio diff would be OK if you fit a 5 speed box with 0.82 5th gear ratio.[most standard type 9's] I use a 3.9 with 5speed with 0.9 5th gear which is great for road use, when using 185/70x13" wheels, if you use 60 series 13" tyres then 3.7 or 3.5 diffs would be better IMO.
  7. Tim V-W Nice one *biggrin*, did what you suggested, and it worked perfect Thanks Mal

    Speedy Cables

Took 'em 3 days to make my oddball speedo cable, and they did it at a good price £26 if I remember correctly *thumbup*
  9. KGH 'Prime' port on USB *confused* The one port listed by emeralds software don't work - read above. On XP lappy there's 2 ports listed and I have to manually select the port, just like I used to do on Vista before re-Installation of the O/S. ☹️
  10. Finnie I used the Disc that came with the emerald USB cable ☹️ Dave I tried that, My laptop doesn't read the ECU 🤔 I thought Ha HA - it's the Ecu USB cable, but no, everythings OK on Bon's XP laptop using the same cable
  11. Recently had to re-install Vista on the Lappy, previously the emerald software had worked OK on this lappy, Now I can't get it to recognise the correct port. Only one comport shows up on the opening emerald screen, whereas previously ther were two. and I had to manually select the correct one. Anyone had a similar problem, and how did you sort it
  12. Brent At the Mo Anyone it seems can supply brand new Zetec lumps, there was even a stallholder at Stonleigh advertising 'em at £650, of course you can still go to Raceline and pay well over the odds - personally I know where my money would be spent
  13. DIY All the bits are available from Retro Ford at a fraction of Racellines prices, depends on how snobbish, and/or how handy you are with tools I guess, either way you'll be pleased with the end results.
  14. Check it out at Stoneleigh
  15. Zetec Alloy Inlet manifold suitable for Webers or Throttle body's Bought in error so is New & Unused Burton part number FZ663A £100 plus postage, or could bring to Stoneleigh this weekend
  16. I use 16 front 18 rears cold, any more any & I get the bouncy effect you mention which disappears when pumped up to 22 front and rear cold
  17. I find 5-30 the best for Silver top zetec, 5-50 give the rattly tappets as per this post. Mal
  18. If it's a silver top zetec the noise from this area could be no oil in tappet bucket, which may fix itself next time you start engine from cold. It could be a worn cam lobe. I suggest:- You need to remove cam cover check all the Cam lobes, If they're OK replace the cam cover and restart engine. and try to identify more precisely where the noise is coming from, assuming it's still there.
  19. Nice wheels - I believe Brian Sopers S2 uses them, they look awesome on a 7
  20. If you remove the 'for sale' section from BC all us dialup users won't be able to access it on the new site. because of the previously raised issue of all the 'stuff' being downlaoaded B4 access to the webpage ☹️ > No doubt 'Dai Diallup' will be along soon & have his say on the matter too
  21. dON'T DEAL WITH A DEALER RE THE MORGAN THEY'RE EASY TO SELL FOR top dollar just put it on ebay or in the morgan mag - it'll sell almost instantly, just check the prices before you advertise it. Good luck
  22. Paul I had a similar problem having something like a coupla hundred DCC tapes[remember them ] which I needed to transfer to CD. I asked around and eventually came to the conclusion that ebay was the place to buy one. Which I did, just make sure that the machine works before you part with your cash. So I suggest checking ebay till you see one for sale within a reasonable driving distance and ask selller if you can pay Cash on collection if you win the auction *biggrin* Most sellers who have a working machine won't mind this, however if seller makes excuses [work etc] then I'd pass and keep looking, there's plenty for sale at whatever price you want to pay Mal
  23. Nice lathe for a modeller - too small for car work IMO Colchester student or Harrison equivelent would be perfect and cheap Brent You gotta a problem with me or my posts? BM me & let me know

    M12 v 1/2"UNF

Unf is a locking thread ie a fine pitch thread. 12mm is a coarse thread for general usage '8.8' verifies this but it's the 28thou difference in diameter which is what really prevents swopping the threads. Don't do it - or is your name John Wayne 🤔
  25. Kevin They look the same as mine as fitted to 1970 Series 4. 😳 😳 As previously mentioned in this thread both the Mk1 escort straight edged - or the spitfire curved edged pads will fit in the caliper. I'm surprised that your 1994 car is fitted with brakes that originated in 1968 *eek* WOW - there's Caterhams progress 4U Be prepared for your 'new' pads to last considerably less than your old 'uns. I'm using a set of mintex every year 5000miles ☹️ Best of luck Mal
