    NEW CSR

ROB [and anyone else interested] You forgot to mention [ or perhaps you didn't know?] that I built a Robin Hood so I know how they get built and what they 'usually' look like - hence my original 'Informed' [now removed] posting . You can see a photo of my RH on the 'simplesevens' site > I still own my Dutton - not the prettiest car ever but very solid 😳- 22 years now 😬 > Original poster 'mic' never made it clear that it was his car that was for sale, he just simply posted a link to the Pistonheads website Very crap indeed - perhaps he didn't want to own up to the car emanating from him 🤔 > Finally BC is a forum [with the usual disclaimer about comments therein] - people have different views and opinions on 7's [join the HLR site and mention you have an S4 - 7 if you want to see inflamatory remarks on the 7] - when BC Moderators remove posts they are censoring BC - WHY???? This can't be good for 7's, the intenet comunity & freedom in general. ☹️ ☹️ Regards Mal - [s47zz - to those on BC I haven't yet met]

    NEW CSR

Wow - they [MAV I guess] deleted my previous post. It'll still be for sale in 6 month's unless the seller buys a can of Matt black paint from halfords and sprays the dash pipes, coz it looks awful IMO and certainly not £32K's worth

    NEW CSR

WOW - you buy a new one in a decent colour for that price - not a tacky banana yellow and the horrible yellow chassis around the dash - Yuch - make's it look like a Robin Hood Guess he'll have it for sale for awhile yet 😬 😬

    diff alignment

Humm!! Westfield's - Robin hood's & Duttons don't have this problem 😳 😳 Guess it must be the hightech superquality CC 'caged' chassis *eek*

    Milling Machine

Does it take 'Bridgeport' type sleeve collets?
  7. My S4 with Zetec, TB's, 1/2tank fuel& sparewheel and 5 speed conversion - 596kgs - yep it's lardy
  8. Geoff We ain't seen much of you through our 'Summer' ☹️ Be sad to leave your car in the garage all winter, though I know plenty of other who do *eek* Finally I wouldn't worry about the oil, modern oils are as good as they can be at protecting an engine. Just get out and enjoy the car 😬 😬

    Prop to diff bolts

All ford axles are drill through & use 5/16UNF bolts as standard. However there's nothing stopping you using metric provided you use high grade bolts[allen bolts for example] and locknuts.
  10. Just fit a bigger rad - it's a no brainer really 😳 😳 a bigger motor always needs a bigger rad 😬
  11. IMO - An ATB is a soft LSD, and is well suited to a 7, power usually gets transfered to outside wheel when cornering, unlike an open diff which transfers power to the inside wheel which then spins 😳 Driving on wet grass it feels weird with ATB coz the wheel with the most grip varies constantly and you can feel this when driving a 7, nevertheless the drive is maintained, no lockups like an LSD would do in similar situation. I like my ATB and wouldn't swop it for an LSD.
  12. Mitchell cotts used to have a good supplier of Black paint [to spray the used £50 Sierra diffs] after sandblasting them first Scooby LSD diff is nice and small and lightweight, and cheap from scrappies don't know nuthin about the landrover diffs so can't comment on them. Quaife ATB is OK - much better than open diff, AFAIK its still available for both size Sierra casings
  13. Option 1 Just don't be hamfisted tapping the 5mm thick piece Mal

    Morgan Manual

SWMBO owns a 4/4 - if you are OK working on a 7 then a Morgan is easier still for most items. Parts are not cheap though, and a total rebuild will be Mucho expensive work, probably twice the time to do as that on a 7, and it's easy to damage the Aly bodywork whilst grubbing around the car. I've never seen a manual for a morgan, but that's not to say they don't exist - check out the morgan website
  15. Richard C The Tyre fitting place where I always go to get my 21's fitted got them for me - he's well aware of the wear issues I've had with the 21's on the rear of my car. He suggested the Marangoni's and supplied 'em too SO they ought to be available at most tyre fitting depot's. ANd yes Dave Jackson is partly correct about the rear tyre wear on my car though they do wear fairly evenly, when worn out on one side there is about +1mm on the other side of the tyre.
  16. DJ those were the guys I was hoping to find , have used them B4, but a mate said their unit had closed - THX Mal
  17. Need to buy some resin [about a gallon - 5 litres], hardener and cleaner[acetone] - anyone know of a supplier in S Wales area?
  18. Ash Hope Jay lets you come to the meeting on Thursday in the 7 -it was such a nice day for a blat in the 7 today - PS They did a reasonable job of repairing your tintop too 😬 😬
  19. Check the pinion bearing nut hasn't worked loose. This cause all sortsa noises if it does.
  20. Zetec is easiest, cheapest and most reliable replacement for the boat anchor 😬
  21. I used 21's in 70 section for several years, great tyres - though I have wear issues when they are fitted on the rear of my car - 800miles only before they are worn out. At the start of this season I fitted Marangoni 185/70's [£28] a corner and they are excellent on the rear, so far I've done 2300miles and they are about 1/2 worn *thumbup* Though I havent really pushed them in wet conditions, so I can't say whether they are as good as 21's when its filthy wet.
  22. I swopped my Hydraulic clutch to Cable operation, now it's nice and light. If your Cable clutch is heavy then I'd suggest you check the routing of the cable, and the condition of the cable itself.
  23. Had a similar problem, though this may not apply to your car, my fuel pickup pipe had come loose inside the tank, when tank was full the car run OK because the pipe was covered in fuel, however when fuel level droppped the pick was only sucking up the fuel intermitantaly has it sloshed around in the tank. My car has an intank fuel pump, if you have an external fuel pump then this is not your problem.
  24. I always carry a sparewheel and have used the 21's on the wrong way several times after having punctures, never noticed any difference in grip levels. wish my rears would last more than 800miles though ☹️ Fronts last 4-5000miles no problems.
