  1. Ian, Depending on what tunnel top you have, access may be very limited. A race chassis (with the handbrake under the dash) will not have a long enough cutout to work on the rear of the gearbox from the top. I would personally think that it was possible to do from under the car. The access is fair, but as it has been suggested a lift would be helpful.
  2. Thank you for posting the secret file
  3. Richard is right. Use the wrong ec2 file, and this happens.
  4. I'll have a look later. I even think I have an R500 map I cal look in
  5. It depends on how you order it :-p
  6. Is it with the thinner R400 race primaries or the thicker also used on R500? Both are like hens teeth to find (I was looking for a replacemet for 3-4 years until I found one when a specialist garage butchered the one I had lent them for me :-(
  7. I'd probably take two small pieces of hose and make some blinds - one with a thread and a valve in and just pressurise it with air to throw the whole lot under water. Bubbles = trouble No links I'm afraid.
  8. I can't say I have good experience with HiSpec customer service :-p
  9. It has to be tighter than the oil filter. If not theres a risk it parts there rather than at the filter where it's supposed to.
  10. Just be gentle and take it easy.
  11. If the skin has been streched you're buggered. Otherwise the head of a spoon is a useful tool. Add a little butter and work gently in circles. I've done it following a test pilots crash at SPA (!) where he was taken out by a Formula Ford.
  12. #31 I wouldn't be surprised How many are we talking about?
  13. I can find out if there is one as I happen to meet the inventor of the Rotrex supercharger on trackdays. I could give him a buzz.

    Brakes

The rear brakes work a lot harder on a Seven, than they do on a tin top. The weight distribution is close to 50:50 and the COG is low, so the mass displacement will not be as significant as in the tin top. Be very careful not to upset the balance if you change anything. It took me years to regain balance after having fitted uprated fronts - to save my knee, not becuase the brakes ran hot!
  15. Exactly what I think. I had someone chasing me to help him registering a Cateham with an YB engine here in Denmark. I refused and demonstrated to him what happens with my own 200BHP car when it comes "on cam" in a corner in 2nd and full welly: It spins. You can handle the car when you know exactly when it happens, if you don't, you can't. If I was to charge a Caterham in any way it'd be with a Rotrex supercharger. But remember that only the half dead needs a respirator...
  16. Even a poverty spec van usually has the level sensor these days. @all: Remember that oil level for diesels with DPF tend to rise rather than fall, so never ever fill it to the max level!
  17. Unless you have a very clever ECU turbo & Caterham is not a vise combination - like Ian says: Backwards through the hedge faster

  19. The oil return is in the bearing ladder. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I am fairly certain I got it with a blind plug for the return.
  20. Andrew, Big thank you for explaining. Always top posts from you :-) I haven't yet finished the 1.9 engine, but it's correct that it will be on a Kavachi block.
  21. Ooops, sorry. I'll have a look at my car and see if I can calculate it for you. Should be relatively easy.
  22. Andrew, Do you know how the SAIC heads differ from the Rover / Powertrain heads?
  23. I've copied this from an old thread on here: (a) one turn of the top joint = 1/4 degree of camber (b) to compensate the effect on toe, turn track rod .285 turns per top joint turn Unfortunately I don't remember who the author was
