Went for £15211.00 I'd say it was a good buy, looked genuine and with an interesting spec. Have fun restoring it if you were the buyer. Wish it was me ☹️ Peter
  2. Am just in the process of fitting DRL's to my Roadsport SV. Am using conventional strips with built in, off with headlights, facility. Am mounting them under the front lips of the cycle wings. Will post pics when complete - if anyone is interested? Peter
  3. Try this method as an alternative. Very easy and works well! how to polish your pipe Peter

    SVA Test

My test was in Leighton Buzzard. They were VERY thorough and quite friendly. They did say that they see a lot of disasterous builds (probably Westfields 😬) and naturally have to be quite strict in those cases. One item failed. The tester could not see the mirror testing sticks without moving his head. Caterham suppled some slightly convex mirrors and the problem was solved. The re-test cost 90 quid though. Reading the comments above, i wonder if VOSA have issued an instruction to fail at least one item so that they can collect the £90 bonus. Nice little earner! Peter
  5. When I had that noise, it turned out to be the handbrake cable touching the offside rear wheel. The clip securing the cable to te A frame was missing. Peter

  7. Posted - 8 August 2013 22:10 report this post Quoting diggerman: Mines booked in the Catmids next Wednesday. They reckon it will take a couple of hours. I'm waiting for it! Peter I'd be interested to hear how you got on and how long they actually take please? Took car today. Went in to workshop at 8.30 and came back from road test at 12.00. Great service and plenty of coffee while I waited. Great job Simon! Peter

  9. Mmm probably not well greased. Will do better next time Thanks guys. Peter
  10. Just given my front suspension a quick check for worn bearings, joints etc and found the anti-roll bar end balls are both knacked. New ones on way from Caterham at a cost of a couple of quid so no complaint. Just wondering if others have suffered such a short life. 14500 miles 150 Roadsport SV 2010 Peter
  11. You dont need to prime the filter with oil. The flow from the oil pump is substantial and will fill the filter in about 2 seconds! Having oily hands/filter makes it much more likely that bits of carp will get stuck to mating surfaces or get insde the filter. Some do lightly lubricate the rubber seal but must admit I never do. Lubricating the seal makes it easy to over-tighten the filter so that its a s*d to get off next year. You can get a filter wrench of the right size from any motor factor. Its worth the investment as you can then easilly judge how tight you have gone. Just needs nipping. The leak is almost certainly caused by somthing caught in the seal OR the seal has been damaged. Toe-in

Since I changed to 13in wheels with A042's, the car tends to follow white lines and road surface repairs. Am planning to get the geometry checked. What recomendations do you have for degree of toe-in or out? Car is 150SV Sigma . Ta Peter
  14. Sigma150SV. I had that rattle and it turned out to be the spring of the front bonnet fastener vibrating against the side skin of the car. It was also marking the paint. I have appliied a short bit of foam strip behind the springs (both sides) and thats atopped the rattle and protects the pint. Peter
  15. New plugs should come with the right gap, provided they have not been dropped etc. I might be out of date but standard gaps always used to be 25 thou. Pete
  16. Sigma 150 SV. Have been using the standard Ford plugs since new and just changed to cheapo NGK's. The difference is amazing! Car seems smoother, more responsive and even more Sigma crackle. Peter
  17. Ive had two of these and both leaked from the jont after a few thousand miles. The differential expansion between aluminium and plastic seems to be the problem. I now have the Caterham all ali rad with bigger fan. This is the answer. No leaks and much more efficient. I have driven to far west Wales from Aylesbury in todays heat, no problems. AND WHAT A DRIVE, Peter
  18. You will know if you get the connections wrong. Flies will get sucked off the windscreen in to the bottle. Peter
  19. Caterham Midlands entered the latest map for me about 18 months ago and it has run perfectly ever since. I replaced the plastic (rubbish) rad with the all ali Caterham upgrade inc bigger fan, and that solved that problem. Car s now trouble free and a great tourer. It is a 150SV, built 2010 and with 13500 miles on clock. Peter
  20. I think I've found the solution to ending it all! Poof Peter
  21. Intrigued by talk of a speedo code. Does that imply that you can recalibrate for diferent wheels tyres? I have gone from 14in to 13in and just assumed that I must put up with over reading. Can anyone explain? Ta Peter
  22. Great bit of fabrication, well done 😶‍🌫️ Peter
