  3. Heaved back to the top... After a couple of tentative expressions of interest, my car is still for sale. I think I over-priced it originally so have cut the price and included a set of wheels/tyres plus extra wheel fibreglass. Now £15,995. Open to sensible offers.

  5. Hi All At the end of a recent track day at Rockingham, I heard a ticking noise from the engine. I thought at first it was gearbox/clutch related but when I got the pits, it was clearly something in the engine. A combination of factors (all my own fault) suggest I've run the engine too lean on oil... I've taken the cam cover off and noticed something on the cams towards the front of the engine. Can the good people on here offer any suggestions what this might be...? I've attached pictures of the cams (a discoloured cam - a bit 'yellow', a bit of possible scraping). I've also got pictures of a magnet passed through the drained oil showing small bits of metal as well as pin-prick flecks of metal in the oil from the filter. Is this in keeping with normal running, part of the cam wear (if that's what it is) or something more sinister? Cheers! Joel
  6. Hello All I'd like to fit an aero screen in place of my windscreen but am unsure what's best and where to shop. i'd like to be able to re-fit my windscreen easily and i want both driver and passenger - all the kits I've seen for both sides include a rear-view mirror and I don't need one (I have one fitted to my roll-cage). Cheers! Joel
  7. Good shout Roger - an LSD would not stop the wheel lifting but would deal with traction better. Also need to have a think about set-up...
  8. To be clear - even weight across the front. As it's de dion, most weight under me at the rear - hence the problem. i know you can set up even(ish) weights diagonally but it still won't stop me being the ballast in right-handers but a point load in left-handers. Though now you've got me thinking about a set-up DPR did for me...
  9. Yep - it's done reasonably regularly. Might need doing again but only done two trackdays and one race weekend since the last setup.
  10. Hello all Just wondered what the collective wisdom/opinion of people is... In a bid to stop my car lifting its inside rear wheel on left-handed corners on track, I wondered which might prove more beneficial (and I know the ultimate answer is probably 'both'). Do I upgrade the suspension (springs and dampers) or fit an LSD? My car has had the Caterham road-going Supersport upgrade so is now a 140 Sigma (via Academy and Roadsport) with wide track front. It runs a Green ARB at the front (second stiffest) and the stiffest setting on the rear ARB. I do a few trackdays a year, a couple of races and use the car on the road when the weather allows. I've not had the dampers serviced since I built the car but it's a problem I've always had but now it has more poke, it's denting the fun-factor. After that, the question of which suspension or LSD... Budget is one or the other this year. Thanks everyone.
  11. Definitely doing it on this planet and have access to a big enough torque wrench. Saw a link elsewhere for the disc-to-hub bolts in the Caterham store but they didn't have enough to do all four wheels. Any ideas for an alternative source?
  12. Thanks for the hints. Got 41mm nuts with opposing threads on order. Think I have an appropriate socket. Will see how the bearings in the front hub look. Cheers! Joel
  13. Hello all I'm about to replace the front and rear brake discs. So that I don't get half-way through before realising I've forgotten something, can anyone provide a list of what replacement parts I'll need along the way? Can I re-use anything I take off (bolts, bearings etc)? I've ordered new 41mm nuts for the rear but if I can't re-use the disc-to-hub bolts, where can I get replacements? What about the front bearings, castellated nuts etc? Thanks in advance. Joel
  14. If your speedo runs from a sensor against a castellated ring on your right rear driveshaft, it could be the gap is too big. Needs to be really close without touching.
  15. Hi Peter Your speedo can be calibrated to allow for the whhel/tyre combination you're running. A call to Caterham Aftersales should be enough unless you're running an odd combination. I have a 'standard' analogue dial and the code can be altered very easily: 1. Ignition off 2. Press and hold the trip button 3. Turn the ignition on (while holding the trip button) 4. A code will appear - by pressing the trip button on-and-off, you'll alter the number. The flashing number will move automatically when you pause 5. Get to the end and the code is stored Nothing to it. Cheers! Joel
