  1. I've just done a Sigma 150 and yes it needed bvending a lot, at least 4cm. You need to put it in a vice so that the split end is not crushed and give it a good old yank. if the vice is rigid its quite easy. peter
  2. Am building a Sigma150SV. Initial start up a week ago seemed OK. It ran till up to temperature etc and all seemed rosy. Having now finished the trim have tried to start again and no go! It is firing on cylinder 1 and 4 but pipes from 2 and 3 are stone cold. Have not persisted due to dire warnings about the cat. One other strange thing is that the wipers worked when the battery was first connected but now somthing is going to earth and it blows the fuse, Any ideas? Peter
  3. I'm definately old school. Use a copper washer they do the job properly. You should anneal the washer each time you re-use it. Heat it to red hot with a gas flame (even the kitchen hob (if the misses isn't around) then chuck in cold water. It will emerge soft and like brand new.
  4. Almost certainly an internal leak in the master cylinder. Probably gets worse as the fluid warms. peter
  5. The diffs in ..... and no stripped threads! The answer is indeed to insert the two bottom bolts first. Tighten to a pinch and then use a lever in one side of the top mounting to get the long top bolt in the other side. It did need a gentle tap with a wooden mallet but no brutality and no thread damage. The shims can also be challenging to get in but this was solved by use of masking tape to hold them together as if they were one thick thick washer. Thanks again Paul for putting me on the right track. peter
  6. Thanks Paul, the previous posts were really helpful. I will try the bottom bolt first method in the morning. Sleep might help too! Peter PS I cant believe how many caterhameers are awake and blatchating at this time of night. are you all crazy? Edited by - diggerman on 24 Mar 2010 00:01:46
  7. Just spent a merry evening failing to fit the diff to my Roadsport 150SV. Hanging the top bolt was easy but the bottom bolts are quite a lot out of line (3/4mm?). No matter how much I lever and grunt I can get the rubber mounts to give in the right direction. Has anyone else had this problem and is there an easy fix?
  8. I'm building a Roadsport 150SV and have installed the front and rear dampers over the last few days. The problem was weld spatter and was solved using a file. The nearside front was also difficult to line up and was solved as follows. Put the cap head screw in without the damper and note its angle. Its not horizontal! I put some masking tape on the bodywork alongside the screw head and marked a line on the tape level with the bottom of the head. Then put the damper back on and angled it so that the screw head lined with my line and guess what .... it went in first time. The offside rear also had weld spatter that had to be removed too.
  9. Remove the bottom bolt from the damper first then from inside the engine bay put the blade of a large screwdriver behind the top bolt head and tap gently with a soft hammer. Did it yesterday ........ and it worked. PS be carefull not to loose the washers when the bolt flies out!
