  1. Thanks James. I put these points to FJ and the underwriter is sticking by the track needing MSA/Motorsport UK approval, as well as the TDO needing to be an ATDO member. They couldn't provide a list of such groups which just seems bizarre. They seemed sure that Williams were not an ATDO member so it was a "no from them". Irrespective of that, they will not cover charity days . I will just have to write to FJ for every track day I want to join . I attended a very good L7C day at Blyton a few years ago, but was just too slow booking-on to the club days this year (Covid restriction uncertainty, new baby, work commitments, blah, blah...). Noted Carlie that A-Plan looks to be far more reasonable for track cover. Dan
  2. Footman James have said that they (Ageas) won't insure me for the Williams Charity Trackday as Williams are not an MSA-approved track day organiser or car club, nor is the event MSA approved. Ageas cannot provide FJ with a list of approved circuits or TDOs/clubs either, so I have to email FJ for every trackday I may want to attend and ask them to check cover with Ageas. Sounds pretty ridiculous! Are such approved lists available to the public? MSA doesn't exist anymore does it? I checked if they would cover days at Llandow (my local), organised by the circuit itself, that are held monthly. Also a NO! All very frustrating if its going to severely limit the days I could attend (with the comfort of insurance), so I might have to look at an alternative insurer next year. That or an independent track-only policy...? Dan
  3. Thanks! Jumped it using the Skoda. I should have remembered that I dislike my Banner battery. Maybe an alternative is in order, or a better charger/conditioner.
  4. Hi all, I've got a service/MOT tomorrow morning. I have been away recently and only tried to start my 2010 Sigma 125 tonight for the first time in months. the battery has been on a trickle charger which reads full. When I turn the ignition the immobiliser disarms and the fuel pump primes. When I push the start button I just get rapid clicking, no starter turnover. I've pressed the inertia switch and it makes no difference. any thoughts? Being in the garage on my phone means I can't trawl the archives for the answer that is no doubt there multiple time! thanks!

    First MOT

Please correct me if I am wrong, but does a new 7 need an MOT 3 years to the day of first registration, or from SVA/IVA approval? Either way, we are quickly approaching both so I would like to know if anyone out there knows of a 7-friendly MOT place in the S Wales area? Are there any key tips and tricks I should know about before going for the first MOT, or is it a pretty painless experience? Cheers DM
  6. First one I've seen here in 3 years.
  7. So I found out yesterda exactly how far one can go on the accessible fuel in my Sigma 125 SV. Although the tank is supposedly 41l, which should give a range of over 300miles, I coasted to a stop on the M4 last night after 284 miles! Due to my battery apparently being dicky (the hazards were on for about 15 mins before they had drained the battery!), I was worried it was something electrical - altenator maybe. But sticking a few litres of fuel in this morning I could here it hit the bottom of the tank. Filled her up at ASDA and it seems that only 35l are accessible in the SV tank. My fuel guage is (obviously) inaccurate so now I know that at a maximum 250 miles I really need to top up! Dan M
  8. I had them for my SV sized hood, but never used them. I've now lost at least one, so I'll no doubt find that they are critical for something soon enough...
  9. I have exactly the same problem!! I went out for a quick hour last night and thought that I really must have a look and find out what the ticking noise was! (It's been like it for the 3000miles since I built it last year too). Let me know if any of the solutions work and I'll do similar. Cheers DM
  10. I've had a search for old threads about moving my tiny other half closer to the pedals if she is going to drive the 7, and I'd like to know what sort of foam seat inserts people have used to sort their problems. I have an SV with leather seats and she is 5'3" so we have our work cut out. The pedals are already as far as they will go so its mod the seat time. Can the seat runners be repositioned further forwards if I drill new holes in the floor pan and raise the seat enough so the adjusting lever clears the chassis rail? Failing that it might be the foam insert option. Any photos or recommendations of a pro/amateur job? I'd like to find a solution as it would be nice for her to take a turn in driving when we go on a tour somewhere this summer. Cheers Chaps! Dan
  11. Well in the short term I'm getting a CTEK xs3600. Following that it'll be the FIA switch or 12v socket connected to the battery under the dash. As for the Taffia Xmas get together, I've asked Alan for the details as I don't seem to have them. Still need to get to know everyone having managed to only get to one monthly meet in the last 6! 12. Thanks all! I'll go shopping this evening. DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  13. I have just come up to 1000mile in my Sigma and its been great! However, the car has been sat in the garage for 4/5 weeks and I want to give it a once over before heading out again (1st service type stuff). I've put her up on axle stands and wanted to start the engine to get the oil flowing round before checking the oil. BUT, when I turn the key the fuel pump primes and then there is a loud chattering noise rather than the starter motor turning over. Do I simple have a flat battery? (Sorry if it sounds like a silly question, but I'm still new at this 😬) It did struggle on starting 4/5 weeks ago, so that is my first thought. However, I want to see if the POBC thinks its an obvious broken this/that before I go and get a new battery and/or conditioner (and jump leads as I don't have any yet either). A month just didn't seem long for a 6 month old battery to die... Thanks DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  14. I have a similar sounding leak after 1000 miles. I haven't had time to check out the source yet, but will do as part of its 1st service. (I think) its reassuring to hear others have the same problem and its only a slow infrequent drip - ie wherever its coming from isn't going to be a problem imminently. DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
