For road use you might get entirely satisfactory results simply by fitting softer springs to your existing dampers. I have recently purchased a set of Quantum dampers with springs specified by Simon, from Meteor Motorsport and I'm delighted with the results.

To run in another class you need to be either in an invited club or another championship of which that is a round. If you are not your entry won't be accepted. If you are, Chris our scorer will score you against your Lotus 7 class.

It seems unlikely that anybody who was deliberately running with too much power for their class, would turn up at a nominated rolling road with their car still in the same state of tune. For that reason I think we have to continue with the speed trap monitoring etc. described earlier in the post.

You could get an aerosol crack testing kit, basically a dye followed by a chalky spray. I just searched eBay for crack test however and came up with mainly medical products!

Has the rotor arm got a centrifugal rev limiter that has become faulty?

Milky spots can be removed by spraying with WD40 and leaving to soak.

This is the value for money North! The event will finish by 4.30, some people will have to stay for the presentation anyway. I have much more of a problem at Loton waiting for a second timed run at 6pm. Incidentally, there's a Longton sprint at the fab 3 sisters track at Wigan on the Sunday. If we go to Aintree next year it would make a great weekend, have a look on YouTube, and you'd get at least six more runs and you wouldn't be worrying about getting away from Aintree.

Just to explain..I am competing in both the Longton and the Chester/Liverpool speed champs. Their regs require you to be entered in the same class at an event as you are in their championship. Luckily the Lotus Seven club is more enlightened and Mr Bramhall is able to find my times from wherever I am.

Hi Graham, When on 8 1/2 rims, 215 Khumos are stretched so the rim is the widest bit, I think the shadow would be similar if the car was stationary. Hope to see you soon, Nige

4.1 was the standard ratio in Anglias and mk1 Cortinas amongst others. They used to be very common! I was lucky to find one a few years ago from someone breaking a rusted out Anglia, the CWP was as new. They are available, remanufactured, at Burton Power, Ilford for £250. I also have two of these (4.4 & 4.9) in regular use in my sprint/hill climb car and they have been perfect. Some people have reported failures of these on blatchat.

Jonathan , I was just trying to explain the effect, I agree it may not be relevant. Saturation temperature at 1 bar is 120.4 according to steam tables found on google.

Isn't the pressurisation of water systems due to having water somewhere in the cooling system at above 100 degrees Celsius. When the cap pressure is released some water flashes off to steam taking away latent heat until the water temperature reduces to 100, which is the boiling point of water at atmospheric pressure. Using a coolant with a boiling point well above operating temperature means this effect is not seen.

The fact that it restarts on the key suggests that the fault is at the ignition switch.
