  1. My Raceline Zetec cooling system has worked perfectly for many years installed exactly as their instructions with no expansion tank. If you are worried about your radiator you could always pressure test it. My fan is controlled using the switch next to the pressure cap, make sure you use a relay or the switch contacts burn out.

    LSD

    Tran x are unfortunately no longer with us. I still have one of their excellent LSDs however.
  3. Gents, thanks for the prompt replies, I'm happy with them.
  4. I'm more troubled by the decision making process, "it has been decided that......." By who? With what consultation? The face to face tech forum worked well, we have moved to Internet consultation and then to a more directive and less consultative approach. As a long standing class 4 competitor it is disappointing to hear of finalised regulation changes without consultation.
  5. Not an MSA change as such, but I understand from talking to people at Curborough in September, that the clubs associated with the Midland speed championship are going to remove the requirement for a windscreen from the road going kit car classes for 2014. Good news for anyone with an aero screen who usually end up in a slick shod non road going class.
  6. They were often fitted with a Morris Minor axle, modified to offset the diff to the near side. The BMC axle was modified further to take a Ford diff.
  7. I've got a tool they tensions and cuts tie wraps off neatly in one go. Its particularly useful if you can't get both hands in. Have a search on eBay.
  8. I can't tell from pics, but have you got a bent steering arm? Check how far track rod end is from disc. Steering arms seem to bend easily and are cheap and easy to replace.
  9. I've decided to do the Shenstone event at Curborough instead.
  10. Are the wheel studs in the new hubs in square? ie. perpendicular to the wheel mounting face.
  11. I know I've been told, but, where is the Blyton entry form? In addition, does anyone know the approximate top speed of a class 4 at this venue. Cheers
  12. I would agree with Chris and recommend the Jenvey/emerald set up. I too purchased the complete kit from Emerald, it came with a map that got it running, then had it mapped at Emerald by Dave Walker. Emerald are a pleasure to deal with, highly recommended.

    class 4

    Hi Paul, hope you are filling your weekends! New springs are fitted as advised, we'll see about dampers. I happen to have a 2.4 litre 260hp Duratec in the garage but it's currently destined for the Escort. Just need to get out and drive, currently being completely outwitted by the fish in Orkney.
  14. X1, not available for 9th, do not attend events that require evening dress.

    class 4

    Harewood, Curborough and blyton for me, unfortunately I don't think I can make Anglesey.
  16. My tip would be avoid using Morris Marina axles. 😬
  17. His Facebook page indicates he may have a new tri-colour trowel.

    Soldering

    Great in theory. I bet over the last forty years I've removed hundreds of faulty crimped connections on cars and motorcycles and replaced them with soldered joints. Joints being then taped or more recently heat shrunk. I'm not aware of any failures of the soldered joints.

    Soldering

    What are the crimps made of? Aluminium is difficult to get solder to take to, brass ones would be easy. As others have said, why bother?
  20. Hi Paul, I'm very sorry you are retiring and will greatly miss you and your car at events. Good luck for the future and keep in touch.
  21. Great event, I 'm hoping to be there both days.
  22. Just one missing from class 4. Hope you've received a sick note from Mr 4*.
