Just for reference and thanks to Chris at Redline. The bolt size for a modern triangular dry sump tank ( and my car is 2018 ) is M10 x 1.25 So be careful with these as said earlier 🙏

Hopefully someone has a definitive answer regarding the correct size. Caterham suggested 1.25 but don’t list a replacement bolt in line.

That will be my solution from now on.

My 420 dry sump bolt has been cross threaded at some time and after a tap and a bit of a bodge last year to get me through it’s time to sort properly. My question is what is the standard bolt size, I know it’s M10 but I need to correct pitch so I can helicoil this properly. It’s possibly 1.0 or 1.25, Thanks Pete

Good news : The 888r went on today and the fit was perfect, very slightly wider at the shoulders but still within the clearance of the wing stays. Car obviously feels much better with new rubber on as the old tyres were really on the last knocking. A good chunk of change saved also.

Slight high jack but, I've put fronts to rear etc due to very worn tyres and inside edge wearing on the front. So im in desperate need of new tyres 195 50 15. I do not want to put zzs back on due to price and limited availability in the near future. Has anyone with Orca wheels used 888r Toyo and was there any fit issues with the front wing stays on the 15s. Off to a supplier tomorrow and hoping the Toyo fit and also they are ok to remove them should there be an issue. Caterham have been no help at all as they could not supply zzs when I asked. Plus the price has jumped since the demise was announced. Tyre specs give the two brands the same width but fingers crossed unless someone knows for sure.

Sorry to jump in on this but I'm having a problem replacing my 195/50/15 ZZR. So the question is has anyone with a fairly new car 2018 plus changed to anything else. I can get 888r but not sure if they will clear the front wing stays or rub , I believe they are a little wider. Thanks in advance, Pete

Very early stages yet as only picked the car up yesterday but I believe the wings and brackets might be available when I sort this and strip the car. I'll keep this in mind. And thanks for the replies I think I might be on the right track to sorting a plan.

When these wings are changed what's the best way to deal with the holes that are left. Obviously the car will go to a body shop for a re spray but can they just fill the holes or should something be done first to stop any problems for the average body shop. Anyone have experience in having this done. Thanks Pete

To be fair I could have sold the car to France about four times over, but with the engine change the registration process was a little vague. So it took the right person with the persistence to play the long game and hopefully get it through. This buyer has a garage so I believe the car will be on trade plates for a while........ With the help of a specialist French importer ( based in the uk) agent this has been a smooth transaction so far. Car and classic was the best place to get this sold in the EU buy the way. If anyone needs the shipping agent to help a sale let me know.

So the Zetec has now sold and is off to spend the rest of her days in deepest France. Very happy with the deal and she has ended up just as I wanted as a classic in France. Brexit has played its part in the exportation of these older cars but with the right people it can still be achieved without the buyer paying too much import tax making them unviable. Roll on next weekend when a nearly new 420 will be taking her place in the garage. Happy and Sad all at the same time. Cheers all.
